2019: Danny Ainge said NBA players taking on Trump are “just like Hollywood,” and “the last people on earth I would ask their opinions, their political views.”

“There’s not very many players that I really care what they have to say.”

Danny Ainge’s 2012 Romney comments were made at an official Celtics event.

Danny Ainge gave about $5,000 to the Romney/Ryan campaign effort.

In the 2019 video above, Danny Ainge said he disagrees but respects Gregg Popovich and Steve Kerr’s opinions, but doesn’t “really care what [most NBA players] have to say.”

Danny Ainge used his platform while at a Celtics event to get political but doesn’t think NBA players have valuable insight to share.

After the murder of George Floyd, Danny Ainge tagged several Boston Celtics and tweeted “there is so much to learn from these young men.”

However, Ainge’s attitude is betrayed in the video clip above where he displays contempt for NBA players teaching him anything.

It isn’t shocking that a white NBA exec supported Romney, but it shows the contrast of Ainge’s feelings about NBA players (LeBron, Curry, etc.) weighing in on Presidential politics, especially when NBA players were being attacked by Trump.
