As an active trader I target 8 to 40% move in 3 to 5 days. These moves are short term momentum bursts. In order to understand these better everyday I study stocks up 20% plus in 5 days.
This is a very simple study done using a scan in tc2000

As of today it has 55 stocks making 20% move.

Similarly I study stocks up or down 20 dollars in 5 days as I focus more on high priced stocks.

Once you start studying this daily you will find common patterns in these 3 to 5 days moves. Then you can use that information to select good setups in real time.
A daily study like this builds your market understanding significantly and helps slay many false dragons. And questions many assumptions and aphorism tossed around with authority by many traders.
