UK police officers received more than 7,800 complaints about racist conduct over five years, data reveals.

Allegations of officers making racist remarks during arrests and posting offensive memes on social media are among complaints made between 2015 and 2020.

181 - of the 7,800 complaints (2.3%) - resulted in formal action, i can reveal.
30 officers were sacked or resigned as a result of the complaints, according to data obtained via Freedom of Information laws from 38 of 45 police forces.

Campaigners say it's time for police to stop "marking their own homework.”
