paradise emphasized the importance of both happiness and having the courage to stop. using a running metaphor, bts pointed out how society made us believe that reaching the finish line faster will equal to happiness—which is absurd. the real battle starts after the finish line.

'life is long, do it slowly'

I found this new, people often say that life is short, therefore we must treasure every minute of it. Although it is true to a certain length, life also shouldn't be rushed. Jungkook opened Paradise with a strong diction and beautiful melody+

+emphasizing the race of life everyone is so desperate to finish. Life is the only marathon that you should be wary off, sometimes you have got to run hard, but sometimes you got to take a minute and drink some water.

'real world is different from the promise'

Jimin's verse before chorus captured my attention as he sung the lines in a fast manner, building a climax. In the bible, the promise land is the place where everything is happy, okay, at ease; it's a paradise. +

'it's okay to pause.' 'it's okay not to have a dream'

These phrases are validating rather than condescending. like a warm hand reaching out to your cold ones like a blanket in a chilly night, just like Taehyung.

When the beat dropped in the chorus, Taehyung emphasized the lines 'it's okay to pause, there’s no need to run without knowing the reason.'

—in the race of life, why are we so desperate to reach the finish line? out of fear? out of panic? out of other's orders? if we don't know the reason ourselves, won't it be ten times exhausting?

— having a dream is one thing, but being happy without one is another. this society has forced us to believe+

+that in order to be successful and happy, we must dream big, and if we don't then the only way to go is down. there will always be a time where we won't see our dream, and it's okay. just like how seasons change, we will too.

'it’s okay to pause, we now don’t run without knowing the purpose'

— Purpose. People say different things about our purpose in the world, which makes this word weigh more than gold. As Seokjin's singing this line with his god-sent voice, it came to me that it's both+

+ a realization and retaliation taking back the power and control over your own life. Being okay with pause, with delay, with having to stop— because if we don't see the slightest purpose it supposed to have, then why continue?

—paradise. what does it mean to be in paradise? some say it's a place where you feel the happiest. euphoria. although there is no real paradise existing in the world, but rather, you create it. +

+ with your own breathe and vision. just by being alive each day is a paradise and luxury one wants to have as well. you create your own paradise, your own happiness.

The chorus give a sense of reassurance. people are so used to to reaching the finish line so much that they+

already forgot how to live. It's a sad reality that many are still in chain with. The vocal line conveyed Paradise's message in such way that comforts your soul, hearing them say it's okay makes me think that, oh... I think I'm the only one being hard on myself.

"we dream through others, like debt' In RM' verse, he started off pointing out the most common thing people has been doing, he also used a wordplay with debt and borrow, meaning we live in a world where people /borrows/ other's dream leaving no space for our own.

Happiness is even a dream to some. The point here is no matter your dream is, it's okay! No one should ever make you feel less just because your dreams aren't the same as others.

And then the pre-chorus and chorus again, it feels like a cold water poured onto you, but it's doesn't hurt at all, instead, it wakes you up and gives you this certain warmth you've been looking for for a long time. :)

'I don't have a dream, sometimes I'm scared to dream.'

In contrast with Joon's verse that challenges the outside, Yoongi's focuses more on the internal and vulnerable side of a being, highlighting the fear and exhaustion because of the word 'dream'. +

prioritizing happiness over anything.

I think this line describes the message of the song perfectly. In one line, they wrap up Paradise and gave the assurance most of us need. Why do we need to run towards something that we don't want?+

That we don't resonate with? It's true that having big dreams is great, but so what if you don't have one as of the moment? Is that the end of our lives? No, it surely isn't. The tannies know that we know what we need to do, we know to stop the race, to not try so hard dreaming+

+someone else's dream, they know that we know, they're giving us just a little splash of water to be reminded of it again. :) At the end, the marathon will not determine the worth and happiness you will feel. Even if you finish the race, were you satisfied?+

Were you happy? It may sound strange, happiness, what does it truly mean? It can be lots of things. That is why you need time to figure it out, you need time to live and feel it surging through your veins.+

Joon said that Paradise is a sad song as it reflects the society, he also emphasized that the words dream and love has this weigh on them the everyone seems to make it something grand and big, but it's not always like that.
