Thread (1/n);
I encourage all IL legislators to VOTE YES ON OMNIBUS ENERGY LEGISLATION
A key group of state legislators, along with vital energy industry stakeholders, have been busy negotiating a massive new energy reform bill for Illinois. The culmination of these negotiations
(2/n)will be an omnibus energy bill focused on equity, labor, and economic growth.
Keep the economy-boosting and job-producing solar industry alive in Illinois. The IL renewable energy program is completely out of funding. Budget shortfalls have placed hundreds of existing solar
(3/n) contracts at risk. Thousands of jobs will be lost unless the General Assembly acts by May 31. A renewed commitment to renewable energy will create a net benefit for IL consumers of $1.21 billion over 10 years.
Pass the strongest clean energy equity provisions in the nation.
(4/n) Based on feedback provided by IL Legislative Black Caucus members recent energy negotiations have culminated in real, progressive renewable energy equity provisions. IL has the opportunity to pass the most advanced diversity initiative for a renewable program in the country
(5/n) No other state requires diversity reporting for the renewables industry, let alone mandated goals for the entire industry as would be set by this bill.
Lead the nation with the most aggressive clean energy labor standards. Labor unions, the renewables industry
(6/n) as well as environmental & climate justice organizations have come together to create the most aggressive clean energy standards in the nation. The forthcoming omnibus energy bill requires prevailing wage on nearly all solar and wind projects participating in RPS programs,
(7/7) namely the Adjustable Block Program & Illinois Solar for All.
This bill is critical to preserve thousands of jobs and ensure continued investment in the State of Illinois.
Vote YES on the legislatively-negotiated omnibus energy package. #twill@GovPritzker@DonHarmonIL
