Need some Portfolio Tips as a Freelance Developer?

- What should the portfolio look like?
- What can I show in the portfolio if I don't have any experience?
- What types of projects should I include?

Here they are 👇
First Things First...

What is a Portfolio Website?

A web developer’s portfolio is a website where you can show your skills, experience, and services to potential clients.

= It's the new resume! 📖
A lot of freelancers mention their skills in a "Rating" like:

- HTML 92%
- CSS 87%
- JavaScript 83%

Please don't do this.
You Want Your Portfolio to:

- Position you as an expert.
- Set you apart from the competition.
- Get them interested in your services.

Businesses also want to see what you've DONE.

To do this, it requires:

Specializing in a niche 👈
Generalist vs Niche Portfolio?

Focusing on a Niche will get you Better Clients Faster. 📈

Niche Examples:
- Churches
- Medical
- E-Commerce
- Legal
- Authors
- Health and fitness
- Beauty and fashion
- Pets
- Business and life coaching
- Financial services
What to Include in a Niche Web Developer Portfolio?

1. Header with Unique Selling Proposition

"I help coffee shops get more customers"

-> Sell the outcome 💰
-> Not the tool 🛠️
2. High-Value Blog Article

Blog articles are excellent in showing off your expertise.
It adds to your credibility.

Plus, not many web developers actually bother to do this, so it will instantly set you apart. 👍

It also helps with SEO.

This will generate free leads 🤯
3. Services and Benefits

Your portfolio should clearly show the services you can offer & how they will benefit your clients.

- SEO
- Web Design
- AdWords
- Design
- Social Media

Offering marketing services allows you to charge a monthly retainer.

This helps with cashflow.
More Ideas for Additional Services:

- Facebook ads
- Blog writing
- Social media management
- Email marketing
- Landing pages
Follow these tips and you'll be doing better than Dogecoin.

Freelance web development pricing tips.

Follow these pricing tips to earn more as a freelance web developer.

ALL you need to know 🧵👇
❌ Too many developers are quick to say $'X' for a 5-page website based on what the “going rate” is.

Or they just charge whatever hourly rate they think is fair for their level.

I’m going to share why I think there is a better approach.
There are 3 main pricing options most web developers choose:

1 → Hourly Billing
2 → Fixed Price
3 → Value-Based Price

The freelancing blueprint 🧵👇
Disclaimer:

Freelancing is NOT for everybody, but it is for everyone 😎

Just give freelancing an honest attempt for a year.

If you enjoy it - cool.

If you don't - cool.

At least you tried.
Freelancing starts with a SKILL.

1. Learn how to make a website (Web Design).
2. Learn how to get sales for a business (Digital Marketing).
3. Learn Web Design and Digital Marketing.

I'd recommend option 3.

You're offering a once-off and monthly service.

Win-win.

Why would a client want to pay for a website when they can just code it (for "free") with:

- Shopify
- Wix
- WordPress
- WebFlow

???

Here's my answer 🧵👇
Platforms like Shopify, SquareSpace, Wix and others are great.

They make creating sites super easy and you can often get good support as well.

Who would pay someone else to create websites when they could create it themselves and save the cash?

Think of it like this:
Why do people eat out when they could eat at home?

There are so many options out there:

→ Fast-food
→ Fine-dining
→ Organic
→ Chinese
→ Indian
→ etc.

Then each sub-industry has hundreds of restaurants to choose from as well...
