"Problems impacting response times": a running list.
Getting the best and fastest response to residents on every call should be a prime goal of the fire department.
Unfortunately, through a variety of problems relating to how units are assigned, CAD, coverage, and the structure of dispatch, HRFE isn't achieving this goal.
This is a major problem impacting responses on a daily basis. It's often correctable but not getting enough attention.
So, I'm going to start a list in an effort to keep everyone informed. The list is just a start for now but I'll add to it over time, so they're all in one place, in the event anybody in a position of power ever decides to look into this stuff.
2:50pm 6 Engine (Spryfield) responding to a medical
If I heard correctly I think 6E said they’re responding from STN60. If that’s correct 5Q would be substantially closer on this (3 and 7 also). Mountain Rd
Yeah sounds like 6E is taking this in from STN60.....
They’re going to the Salvation Army on Gottingen for a report of a smell of smoke near the boiler room. 3E has ordered the balance of the alarm be paged. Update to follow.
They’ve added 2E only to the call. That is *not* the balance of the alarm. 3A, 4E, 12Tac, D2, and PCC would be the balance of the alarm but they have not been paged.
They have two openings at this time and are going to consider both internal and external applicants.
The two current vacancies are A Platoon, District 2, and C Platoon, District 3. However, I don't think it's guaranteed that these two hires will necessarily go into those open slots. We'll see what happens.
