On this Madaraka day, let's remember scores of Kenyans who gave life, limb & liberty to ensure that we attained self-rule in kenya.

Some of these heroes have been forgotten in the sands of time but we must never let them be forgotten.

Here are a few.

CMG Argwings-Kodhek (1923-1969)

CMG attended St Mary’s School, Yala, Makerere and Cardiff Univ where he obtained a Law degree and got admitted to the bar (Lincoln's Inn) in 1951.

Offered a third of what whites were getting at the Attorney General's office, CMG declined.
He started his own law firm at Church House and was the only African in Kenya with a law firm.

He made his name defending Mau Mau cases — saving many, including Waruru Kanja, and 48 Lari Massacre accused, from the hangman’s noose.

THE LIFE OF DEDAN KIMATHI IN THE FOREST, HIS SHOOTING AND SUBSEQUENT ARREST BY NDIRANGU MAU AND CORPORAL WANJOHI. ImageImage
Despite their sacrifices in the liberation struggle, there is still no elaborate documented list of the Mau Mau Generals, men and women who paid a heavy price for what we now enjoy as freedom. There has been a deliberate attempt by our...
....former colonisers Britain and the Government of Kenya to not give a truthful account of British colonialism and about these men and women. Am sure many of you have never heard of a MauMau General called Kurito ole Kisio who led freedom fighters in Narok.

THE KISUMU MASSACRE OF 25TH OCTOBER 1969. 52 years ago.

October 25, 1969, was a day of gloom in Kisumu as a ceremony to open a public hospital turned into a massacre.

Founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta had been on a two-day tour of Western Kenya.
This was three years after his Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga instigated a mass exit from then ruling party, Kanu, and formed the Kenya Peoples’ Union (KPU) in 1966.
Since Mr Odinga enjoyed massive support in the region, Mr Kenyatta’s tour was full of tension.
For the longest period Saturday 25th October 1969 remained the most darkest day for the people of Kisumu in the then Nyanza province. It marked one of the ugliest "incidents" of political violence in the country.

Deputy president William Ruto after the supreme court led by CJ Maraga had nullified the 2017 elections in which president Uhuru Kenyatta vied against Raila Odinga and William Ruto.

Kenyans forget so fast, and they don't accept all the leaders we praise like gods are crooked.
And then today. If you worship men and women you will say am becoming political. But am just reminding the forgetful you that your gods speaks from both sides of their mouth. Double speaking is the art they have mastered. Image
And then this was our commander in chief his excellency, president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kenya's first terror attack that shook the country.

At exactly around 1030HRS twenty three years ago, on 7th August 1998, guards at the rear entrance of the United States of America embassy building in downtown Nairobi waved down a truck for routine inspection.

***THREAD*** ImageImageImageImage
It was halted as its occupants tried to force their way into the rear entrance of the embassy building, situated at the busy junction of Nairobi’s Haile Selassie and Moi Avenues.

A brief argument ensued between embassy guards and the truck’s “arab-looking men”...
...who insisted they had a package to deliver and needed to access the basement of the building.

Amidst the argument, a small blast went off.

Then followed an exchange of gunfire. In seconds, the sun seemed to glow brighter as quickly as it turned dark.
