Jared Drake Bell, the co-star of the hit Nickelodeon show ‘Drake & Josh,' is facing charges in Ohio for attempted endangerment of a child—a 4th-degree felony—and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, according to local reports. The latter charge is a 1st-degree misdemeanor Image
On Dec 1, 2017, Bell allegedly chatted inappropriately with a minor, in a way that was 'at times, sexual in nature,' according to local affiliate WJW. At an arraignment on Thursday, Bell pleaded not guilty and was released from jail on a $2,500 bond.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office says Bell and the victim had been communicating for several years before the 2017 incident.
Almost a year later, in October 2018, the victim—15 at the time—filed a report with her local police department in Canada, who connected with Cleveland police and moved on investigating the allegations, per WJW. Bell is due back in court on June 23.

We are in a climate emergency: Two wildfires are currently raging in Arizona, less than 50 miles away from each other. As of Monday morning they have consumed more than 80,000 acres east of Phoenix and forced local evacuations. No deaths or injuries have been reported.
The causes for the fires are still under investigation, though much of Arizona is experiencing 'extreme' and 'exceptional' drought, according to the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
Extremely dry conditions, largely driven by the climate crisis, have affected the Southwest United States for years and have been spreading throughout the west.

This thick mucus is commonly called ‘sea snot,’ and it is carpeting the Sea of Marmara in Turkey
The sea contains high levels of phosphorus and nitrogen from agricultural, industrial, and raw waste that flows into it. This, in addition to warming waters from climate change, has led to a boom in the phytoplankton population which creates the snot.
The mucus itself is not toxic but it provides a breeding ground for dangerous microorganisms and bacteria. It can also smother and kill coral while blanketing the water’s surface which kills fish and leads to oxygen depletion in the water.

‘Zombie fires’ are becoming more common in a changing climate.

Also known as overwintering fires, these burns smolder throughout non-fire seasons and survive underneath snow to reignite in the spring. Image
They burn deep in the ground in places with thick, heavily organic soils such as the northern forests in Alaska and Canada. These carbon-heavy soils emit disproportionately large amounts of greenhouse gases.
As the planet warms, high temperatures will lead to conditions even more conducive to zombie fires, with longer fire seasons, larger burn areas, and drier soils.

Former President Donald Trump’s accounts on Facebook and Instagram will be suspended until at least January 7, 2023, Nick Clegg, VP of global affairs at Facebook, wrote in a company post. go.nowth.is/3pnBni7 Image
The Oversight Board, often referred to as the ‘Supreme Court’ of Facebook, previously upheld the company’s decision to suspend Trump from the platform in the wake of the deadly January 6 Capitol riot, but warned that an ‘indefinite suspension’ was ‘not appropriate.’
In his post, Clegg wrote that Trump’s ‘actions constituted a severe violation of our rules’ and warranted ‘the highest penalty available.’ The penalty, a two-year suspension, means that Trump’s accounts will remain suspended until January 7, 2023, at which point...
