What kind of idiot doesn’t have a list of herbs to keep c0r0nav1rus at bay?

That idiot will not be you if you scroll throw this handy dandy thread that has herbs for respiratory and circulatory health complete with preps

Threaaaaaaaad 👇🏾
Eucalyptus

A tall tree from down under that is one of the best respiratory toners

Prep: pour a cup (8 fl oz) of boiling water over 1 tsp of dried leaves.

Cover and steep for 7-10 mins

Strain and sweeten to taste with honey if you’d like

Drink up to 3 hot cups a day
Mullein

The Romans and Greeks did something right when they used this plant for their respiratory woes

Combo prep: mix equal parts marshmallow root, eucalyptus, and mullein.

Steep the mixture in boiling water for 10 mins

Strain and enjoy 1 hot cup every 8 hours
Greater Plantain

The only white man’s foot that should ever get near your face, this mucus expectorant also has laxative effects too to clean them guts out 💩

Prep: 1 tsp in a cup of boiling water. Steep and strain.

1 hot cup every 8
will keep your lungs in shape 🫁 🤛🏾
Scots pine

Instead of boiling fabuloso and losing the last few brain cells you got left, check out this prep for a potent lung sweeper

Strain then add fresh lemon & lime juice 😋
Ginkgo

This staple of traditional Chinese medicine strengthens the whole circulatory system

Best to take as an herbal supplement, but you can soak your feet in it

Prep: 3 cups of ginkgo leaves & 2 cups of epsom salt per liter of warm water. Soak feet for 15 mins once a day
Sweet Clover

This plant is a superstar because it prevents 1 of the effects of the v1rùs & some of the v9cc1nes

Blood clotting aka thrombosis

Prep: 1 to 2 tsp in a cup of boiling water. Steep for 15 mins & strain.

Enjoy 2 cups a day with bitter orange no longer than 3 months
Contraindication notes:

*diabetics, children under 12, and ppl with high blood pressure should avoid Gingko

*eucalyptus doesn’t agree with people with digestive issues including ulcers and gastritis. It should not be used indefinitely due to possible toxicity build up.
*avoid these herbs if you are pregnant, lactating, or have liver issues such as liver failure, cirrhosis, or NAFLD.

*if you’re pregnant, wait until your bundle of joy plops into this realm before you use Scots pine.

Night class got their first stern lecture from me after their test performance

And it must’ve resonated because I ain’t never seen the whole class listening intently the whole time 😂😂
More or less the same stuff I told my class in the spring, but added in the stuff I’ve been tweeting a lot about lately especially about shying away from hard things

When you challenge people, if they’re worth anything, they will respond.
And I think that’s the problem with this generation

People don’t care about them enough to challenge them.

They have so much fear and anxiety over failure. Proof that participation trophy culture doesn’t work because how can you fear failure when everyone wins?

People bring awareness to things they have no intention of solving themselves.
“Spread this to bring awareness to xyz issue”

Ok so when people are aware what’s the next step?

🦗
You don’t need to bring awareness to something you plan on fixing because it’s probably fixed by the time the message is spread.

“The fact that brain activity is most intense when people have a growth mindset, shows just how important it is that people believe in themselves and they know that brains can grow and change with hard work.”

youcubed.org/evidence/belie…
Phrases that signal a fixed mindset

“I don’t have enough time for”
“I’ve tried and I can’t do this”
“It’s too hard for me”
“I don’t know”
“I can’t make this any better”

Major habit - excuses

“I wanna do *this* but can’t because of *this*”

Do you do this often?
Phrases that signal a growth mindset

“How can I make this better”
“What can I add to this”
“I don’t know right now, but I can find out”
“I need more practice at this”
“I’m on the right track”

Major habit - solution oriented

“This way is wrong, is there another?”

This you?

Seems like every time I’ve talked with @uknwhooitis this week I’ve come up with something simple yet important

Here is why the average person will never be happy in graph form.

Let’s compare the sine wave and a semi-logarithmic scale Image
(Yes this is actually one of the classrooms I teach out of 😂)

Now.

Sine waves are found all throughout this realm.

They represent real life (more later)

Semi-log graphs are artificial manipulations to make data easier to interpret. But they are not real.
So why am I comparing these two?

Because semi means half

So you’re only getting half of a set of numbers. That’s why there is no bottom half like there is in a sine wave

Why do people do this though?

Because they are trying to chain a series of highs together. That’s not real Image

I was walkin to get my car this morn (thankfully shop not too far from my house) and I was thinking about all the life lessons that lab has taught me

I wanna share a story about theory and practice.

Specifically a story about this synthetic step
Aight so that step highlighted actually took me about 3-4 months to figure out

The average person won’t know this but when you look at a synthetic scheme, there are months, if not years of effort that went into it

The scheme never does it justice because it’s one step.
That step on paper is very simple

I’m trying to do a simple substitution reaction. It’s one of the base classes of organic synthetic reactions

The mechanism is well known.

The conditions are well known.

Millions of substitution reactions have been done and published.
