* πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Mexico is mentioned as a country because as a whole it's growing like a rocket, specific cities: Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta etc.

Typical nomad hubs in Asia like 🏝 Bali etc. are still some of the most popular but their relative growth isn't high or they're not growing due to COVID travel restrictions

I foresee after COVID travel restrictions end those to boom too
I forgot to add how exciting it feel to see all these remote work hubs take off

It's like what I did in 2013 as a solo nomad taking off and becoming viable in all these other places

It's super fun to see what you thought might be a thing 8 years ago, become a real global thing

I just bought my first billboard in front of Apple's headquarters
Thanks for @harrydry for the inspiration

Left pic is a mockup, the final billboard will be displayed digitally in San Jose (nearest billboard I could find near Apple's HQ in Cupertino)

The reason is engadget.com/apple-employee…

🎁 I think the best gift you can give your friends right now is a 2FA hardware key: it will protect them from getting their accounts hacked and their crypto stolen via SIM swapping

My fav is yubikey.com
This one in particular:
- works with USB-C on MacBook Pro
- works with wireless NFC with iPhone
yubico.com/th/product/yub…

Make sure you get a couple so you have some backups in case you lose it
2FA hardware keys are NOT difficult to set up, here's how:
- insert into USB port or use NFC wireless
- go to a website that supports it like @Coinbase and go to settings
- click [ add hardware key ], tap the Yubikey
- done

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ Results from the Nomad List membership pricing test: $79.99 (one-time-payment) is the highest revenue generating price at $34,407/mo with 430/mo sign ups

I had $99.99 for a long time but as you see it actually made me have less revenue: $19,435/mo, so it was overpriced

1/2
πŸ‘€ VERY interesting (and economically obvious) is that there is a big valley of low sales from $100 to $500

People either buy at the <$100 low end, or the >$500 high end: e.g. $499, $849, $1299

There's hardly any middle ground

That explains those $1000+ courses you see
The $79.99 sweet spot which I learned was optimal from the test I applied in real life

...and it has been working, revenue is up and trailing twelve months has never been so high: $365k/y!

remoteok.io is a single PHP file called "index.php" generating $101,101 this month. No frameworks. No libraries (except jQuery)πŸ’–

(SGD 123.4k=USD 92k) + (USD 9.5k in ads) remoteok.io/open
The $9.5k is $7.5k/mo from one sponsor and $2k from another sponsor and will soon hopefully increase too
5% every month of all my revenue goes to CO2 removal via stripe.com/climate, another 5% I'll start donating to other projects too, to get it to 10%

βž— I'm starting to notice a divide between people that work async vs not

πŸ˜™ Async ppl can book fun activities throughout the week and get the lowest prices for hotels, restaurants, etc

😀 Sync people are stuck w/ the weekend and pay the highest prices for overcrowded venues
You have person A who can work async, e.g. with flexible hours and not having to be on call

And person B who works sync and has to be on call

Then person B will dictate person A's life and limit the benefits they have from working async
Sync ppl need to do leisure stuff in the weekend, while async ppl can do leisure stuff whenever.

When the weekend starts sync ppl are excited to finally do fun stuff while async ppl were doing fun stuff all week and their [ fun bar ] is already full so there's a mismatch

πŸ›  People keep asking for the stack, it's:
- @official_php 7 without framework
- JS with @jquery without framework
- normal CSS
- @nginx on @ubuntu
- 1x @linode VPS @ $400/mo
- @stripe for payments
- SQLite for db
