NEW: Wisconsin legislature just passed a bill to expand funding students instead of systems.
It just passed the Senate 20 to 12

It already passed the Assembly 60 to 36

It now goes to the governor's desk.

Assembly Bill 59:
docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2021/proposals…
"The bill increases the income threshold for parents who want to enroll in Wisconsin’s Parental Choice program to 300% of the federal poverty level, or about $78,000 a-year for a family of four.

The equal education access bill now moves to Gov. Evers for his signature."

They should have the power to vote with their feet to other education providers

We can remedy the power imbalance by funding students directly.

A federal appeals court ruled that Vermont cannot prevent school choice families from taking their children's education dollars to private religious schools.
"When the state offers parents school choice, it cannot take away choices for a religious school.

The U.S. Supreme Court's Espinoza decision last year reaffirmed as much and built on its decision in the ADF case Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia v. Comer."
