The pizzas have arrived in the Senate basement where the bipartisan gang of 10 senators are trying to hash out infrastructure Plan B after Capito talks failed.
This could mean a long night.

5 Pizzas from We The Pizza.
Nothing happens without the people sitting in this basement office eating We The Pizza.

You can’t do reconciliation without the 5 Dems.

Need an agreement plus at least 5 more Rs to reach any bipartisan deal.

Potentially trillions at stake.
One of the pizzas is Buffalo chicken.
Buffalo chicken doesn’t sound like a real pizza to me.
A lot of staffers have exited the meeting.
Manchin and Tester have left meeting. Making positive small talk about prospects before elevator closes.

Record 70% back gay marriage in Gallup, *including a majority of Republicans* for the first time.

55% of GOP back

Note for future: ***84%*** 18-34 year-olds

Remarkable change from '96, when just 27% supported, and 2005, when Bush led failed effort to ban in U.S. Constitution.
Conservatives in Congress including Mike Pence back in the day made stopping marriage equality a key plank —press conferences, floor speeches, press releases, bills filed and cosponsored.

It's been years I think since I've seen anyone in Congress even mention the issue.

Manchin and Sinema still supporting the 60-vote filibuster rule kills most of Biden’s social agenda.

How they vote on a reconciliation package, however, will determine how much of Biden’s economic agenda becomes law.

That can either be a $4T bill or $0 or anywhere in between.
Without Manchin and Sinema, those $1,400 checks don’t happen, and Biden’s COVID package would have been at least $1.3T smaller.
Bottom line: Biden needs Manchin. Biden knows this, Schumer knows this, McConnell knows this, Manchin knows this. Everyone except some commenters on this here website knows this.

Time for some #FridayNightZillow

Big mansion, small (for a mansion) price:

6BR, 10BAs, 11K square feet, 11+ acres

Looks like it's in good condition.

Only $849K???

Willing to take on a >30,000 square foot fixer upper?

Just $250K (!)

This listing is insane.

66,000 square feet on 11 acres!

You could house an army in here.…?

The Lakers just look terrible. Anthony Davis is hobbling around the court, Schroder's tossing up bricks, Lebron's jacking up jumpers.
This just a blowout. 27-10 Suns over Lakers after ~8 minutes.

On pace for a 158-58 shellacking.

Nearly 3X.

This game is over and they aren't even out of the 1st quarter.

McConnell today says he hopes for deal with Biden of "maybe" $1T but wants it "fully paid for" and suggests redirecting aid Biden already sent to states in his COVID package...

To be cont'd
Meanwhile, Clyburn says the clock is ticking on bipartisan talks…
Capito has previously suggested redirecting savings from GOP governors canceling the pandemic unemployment extension to help pay for infrastructure.

There’s potentially a $100B difference in taxes Jeff Bezos and his estate would pay under GOP tax proposal and the Biden tax proposal.
The biggest difference is most Senate Republicans have proposed to completely eliminate the 45% estate tax on net worth larger than ~$11 million. Bezos’ net worth is estimated at about $188 billion.
Biden has also proposed eliminating the 100% tax break on capital gains at death. The lost step-up on basis would potentially tax Bezos’ estate more than any other person, because his wealth is largely a never-taxed, unrealized cap gain on Amazon stock.
