Are you the one who doesn't raise hands to answer questions even after knowing the answer? Do you end up with these questions?

“What if I am wrong?”
“What if they make fun of me?”

If yes, you’re not alone.

6 ways to overcome this feeling 🧵👇 #youknowit #youareawesome
#6 You’re not at the center of attention

Understand that every human has insecurities.

The most confident person out there is also insecure about something.

Stop thinking that the spotlight is always on you and that whatever you do, you’ll be ridiculed.
Believe me,

more often than not a lot of people will not even remember if you did something wrong.

Go ahead and attempt.

Get rid of the spotlight syndrome. #spotlight #beconfident #youawinner
#5 Be at ease with the feeling that you may falter.

Don’t get me wrong here.

You don't have to assume that you are wrong.

But be okay that you may be wrong. You may falter.

A lot of people haven’t figured it out yet and ..
are just like you if not worse.

So there’s really no point in beating yourself on this.

Raise hands, answer questions, eat alone in public, stumble while climbing staircases (in a fun way ofcourse).

It’s all OKAY. #beconfident
#4 Breathing is your superpower.

Remember one of the most important super power you have as a human is your ability to control your breathing.

scientificamerican.com goes ahead to say that

"Breathing is like solar energy for powering relaxation: it’s a way to regulate..
emotions that is free, always accessible, inexhaustible and easy to use"

You must know that whenever you’re about to get into a situation which causes anxiety, try this for just 2min...
breathe in with the thought “I am all that I need” and exhale with “I release all my tensions and be at ease”

With time, you'll get better at it. Try it.
#3 Identify and support others

As per NIMH atleast 7% of Americans suffer from such anxieties (commonly referred to as “social anxiety”).

So, when you start getting better at it – you can also identify others and help them. Having each other’s back and people in the...
same “boat” as yours always help reaching the right destination together!

Isn't it?

Trust me, its going to be fulfilling.
#2 Avoid shows which promote shaming as means of humor

Your brain may enjoy a good “joke” but

it also ends up treating it to be true when people in a show laugh and humiliate someone..
publicly when someone ends up fumbling a speech or a task.

Keep these visuals out!!

It’s not for you (or for anyone for that matter).
#1 Don’t beat yourself if you aren’t able to be comfortable

Note that any change takes time.

Don’t end up burdening yourself by forcing yourself to think and act normal.

You can’t do it overnight.

Start it slow. Take one step at a time. May be you can start with writing..
down your feelings about how you feel when situation “X” happens.

This alone could be a good start.

Know that you're fine, just need some practice.

Good luck!

If you got feedback, do let me know on comments. A like and an RT will help spread the word.

Thanks for your time!

Let me ask you a clichéd question.

What do you think about when I say the word “elephant”?

ELEPHANT, right?

Saying something brings your awareness into it, isn’t it?

So – should we choose wisely of what we say?

Let’s dive in.

🧵👇
Language was developed by us – to come to a consensus that your “word” is my word as well.

What’s its primary use? Convey your thoughts.

You think about the opulence of a palace, the purity and shine of gold, clanking of the bells, the brew of coffee and the smoothness of your
milkshake – you do all of this by putting words to your thoughts so that you and I can picture it.

In a conversation – we are trying to bring each other into that unscripted movie.
