To be successful, you don’t need a million dollars, customers, or fans. You just need 1,000 super fans.

Here’s how it works and how you can gather 1,000 super fans:

=Thread=
As an entrepreneur/writer/artist/designer/investor/…

you might think you need millions of $ in your bank account,

an innovative idea, and millions of followers to

be successful and work on your creative projects.
But in 2008, Kevin Kelly wrote a breakthrough essay
titled “1000 True Fans.”

He believed to have a comfortable life, you only need to find 1,000 “true” fans.
A true fan follows you closely and buys anything you produce.

They will drive miles to meet you.

They will buy the eBook, paperback, and audio version of your book.

They will buy your products unseen and before they are published.
If you have 1,000 fans like this, you can make a good living.

For that, you need to consider two things:
1. Create enough each year that you can earn 100$ profit from each true fan

2. You need to have a direct relationship with your true fans. They must pay you directly

If you keep all of 100$ coming from each true fan, then you need only 1,000 of them to earn 100,000$ per year.
A thousand customers are way more realistic than one million, especially when you’re starting out.

But as mentioned before, the essay was written in 2008; with all the changes the world has experienced, is it still relatable?
Back in 2008, Google, YouTube, Twitter, and other Social Media were only in their infantile years.

For distributing any creative work, you needed some middleman to decide which work gets to the end-user.

Now?
Now, there is:

- No middleman
- Direct access to your audience
- Possibility to attract more consumers
The essay isn’t only relatable; it’s a prophecy of our time.

Now gathering fans and promoting your work is easier than ever.

You can directly contact and sell your works and services to people all over the world.

Your customer is only one click away from you.
It has never been easier to gather 1,000 true fans around a creator and never easier to keep them near.

However, it doesn’t mean it needs no work.

Here are 3 steps for you to gather 1,000 superfans:
1. Aim for a certain kind of people

Always remember that your fans are real people, and you ought to create for them.

Niche down. Research and understand the people you want to attract.
2. Create for your fans

Your creation must add value to your fans. So, if you’re looking for ideas to create, go to your fans.

Build communities for them and ask about their needs.

You will come up with great ideas.
3. Get feedback and create more

Be innovative and fulfill the needs of your fans, or they will get bored after a while.

New creations and products keep your fans interested in you.

Always have interaction with your community and come up with newer products for your customers.
Twitter is a great platform for you to gather and directly communicate with the people who are interested in your work.

You have few followers but you can expose your tweets to 50,000 and more people and grow your profile visits.

How?
Just by engaging

Engaging is not about writing comments

It is about giving so much value under someone's tweet that people start visiting your profile because of that comment.

How to do it?
