HOLY SHIT STALKER 2 IS ALSO AN XBOX-FIRST (and PC) GAME
WHAT.
I'm not sure folks have entirely realized how big Game Pass is when paired with apparent exclusives like this.
Even if they weren't exclusives, "I just get the big games for free day 1" is a massive selling point for anyone with teens/etc.
With them? Good lord.
Avalanche Studios Xbox exclusive? Oh dear
Then Sea of Thieves new stuff. Also exclusive-ish.
God damn. They really came out swinging.
Also,
SLIME RANCHER 2 HELL YES
Maaaaannn the snowboarding game looks smooth af. Speaking as a Sports Game person, getting those air flips and spins and landing that buttery? Extremely hard.
Shredders looks amazing. Kind of terrible logo, great looking game.
Damn but Xbox really is leaning hard into the indies. This is so cool to see. They're getting near 1:1 representation on the biggest E3 stage of the year.
The trailer narration for the Outer Worlds sequel is god tier. Yep. Perfect.
(Also YAY! I LOVED THE FIRST ONE!)
Anyways yeah that's me surprisingly satisfied with sticking with Xbox for now. Damn. I really didn't expect them to swing that hard on exclusives. I was happy with just the Game Pass stuff already.
Trying to figure out how punching guy didn't break his hand. That's more or less how I broke mine. His form is terrible and he's rolling his wrist, likely because of the angle / position of the hood.
Though I would like to point out that I haven't broken any bones during THIS game's dev, at least.
The flat area isn't flat. We had a nice little thing going! Being in that showcase Steam page thing that Wholesome and Guerrilla Games shared was pretty great! You can see where it starts here, where stuff gets really spiky. Just then E3 hit and, schwoop. Flat by comparison. Wow.
This despite completely forgetting to link the Steam page in my various tweets. SIGH.
In my defense, I was mostly linking to IGN videos or QRTs similar that break steam links. I guess. Kind of.
... SIGH. ANYWAYS THE NUMBER IS BIG ENOUGH. It's fine.
The birds are sporting some uh, daring feather-styles.
Poor little poofs must be soaked, not sure I've ever seen so many with such ridiculous mops.
They have a bald spot oh nooooo
Ah yes a lovely morning, guessing these wet birbs are the juvies who were mid-fledge, and the fluff just doesn't shed water well, so m-<incoherent squirrel noises>
So I've been going "hmmm should I be mentoring? How does one do that? Oh no" for years, and then the young dev I've been talking to for years messaged me their dev plan, and I was all "well that seems fine you didn't XYZ", then another messaged me and I-
Ah. I guess that's how.
Point being, if you're coaching a dev, you too might be mentoring already. Quelle surprise.
Though it does raise the point that informal mentoring has traditionally been fraught, since it's an avenue for potential abuse. I guess it being virtual somewhat blunts that, but still.
Does anyone who has done mentoring the er, "right" way, rather than falling backward down a flight of stairs into the mentoring room, have systems or anything to keep stuff in check? Best practices? Are there any, other than "seriously they're kids, so be mindful and respectful"?
Am I missing something, or is every upgrade in Risk of Rain 2 attached to "being good at the game"?
So it's like a reverse levelling system. Instead of shifting the difficulty curve, it's just, you see nothing cool until you beat the game or (etc)?
Yeah, I know it has an easy mode. I turned it on. I died in level... 6? The lunar blue one? To a one shot kill from full health. To something behind me. That I never even saw.
Best guess is melee thump from the big glowing walker guys, but either way. Uh. One shot. Full health.
I have a suspicion that the Venn diagram of "people who love Risk of Rain 2" and "people who played it with their good buddy co-op group" is a circle.
Damn. Not really what I was looking for.
Ah well, on to the next one. Hadn't realized it was THAT weighted that way.
Folks catching us on Wholesome who missed that we also announced launch date yesterday: we're out August 12! Yay! There's also a new trailer (on IGN, they had an exclusive etc etc)
Also on that Wholesome spot, if you pause at the bit where I'm in the menu, you'll see some of the other options I didn't have time to show. There's a fair few now, heh.
The only ones I don't have working yet are "toggle grabs" (so you don't have to hold grab button down, it's the only significant button hold in the game right now), and the ollie also kickflips. I think I might have that one working, but I haven't tested it in a while.
