Response to the allegation that Igbos unfairly acquired land in Port Harcourt (pre-Civil War) by the help of NCNC and ACB.

There are some claims someone would make, and you should use a trend to know that the claims are spurious.
The intent of the post was to create the narrative that Igbos from outside Rivers State used the unfair advantage of their kinsmen being in charge of NCNC and African Continental Bank to illegally grab the land of the indigenes. That is a lame argument.
Kindly look at these simple examples and make your conclusions:

1. By the year 2000 (less than 30 years after the Abandoned Property saga), the same Igbos from the Southeast had become majority owners of property in Port Harcourt.
Please which Igbo bank in PH gave them the favouritism of loans and which politicians gave them the unfair advantage?

2. When Nasir el-Rufai was Minister of Abuja during Obasanjo's presidency (before 2007), he said that Igbos owned about 70% of the property in Abuja
(even though such property was not originally allocated to them). Please which bank or Igbo minister of the FCT gave them the unfair advantage? Did Igbos colonize Abuja? Or has there been any Igbo president since Abuja was created who unduly allocated Abuja property to them?
3. Lagos is not in the Eastern Region. But Amuwo-Odofin, Festac, Ago Palace Way, Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, Ojo, Satellite Town,Trade Fair Complex, Alaba area is dominated by the Igbos in property ownership. They also have much property in Surulere, Aguda, Oshodi, Yaba, Orile, Olodi,
Akoka, Ire-Akari, Ikeja, Ikoyi, Lekki, etc. Did any bank or Igbo governor or party give them some unfair advantage to have property in these areas? Did they colonize Lagos?

While the Whites were in charge of PH, people lived in PH. Nobody grabbed any person's land.
It was not a lawless society. The British had courts to try lawless people. The Igbos of Southeast did not suddenly grab PH lands from the indigenes between 1960 and 1967. PH was not the only place the British left after colonialism. People from other parts of Eastern Nigeria and
other places also bought lands the same time in Enugu, Owerri, Aba, Onitsha, Calabar, etc. Nobody accused another of grabbing any land, and there was no abandoned property issue in those places after the War.
See the attached photo of the house Nnewi Patriotic Association founded in 1931 built in faraway Aba around that time too. They did not grab the land. They raised money to buy the land and build the house.

Every ethnic group has its strengths and weaknesses.
There are things Igbos do better than others in Nigeria. That thing is buying property wherever they reside. They never steal anybody's property. They exchange money for landed property. It is a huge risk in an unstable country like Nigeria where ethnic tensions and rivalries
are ever present. But they take the risk more than any other ethnic group does. Any honest person will give them credit for that.

No people from any ethnic group will buy land again in a place where their property was seized before as abandoned property or where their property
has been burnt before in ethnic-based riots, but the Igbos have done it repeatedly in different parts of Nigeria.

Anybody who argues that Igbos grab their land is a lazy-minded fellow. There is a solution to it:
If they offer you money for your land, say no to the money and keep your land! But if you collect money in exchange for your land, keep your mouth shut. You can't have your cake and eat it.

Do you know there was BIAFRAN FOOTBALL CLUB (1969-1978)?

As the Republic of Biafra was founded, and the war started, a group of idealistic young football lovers gathered together in Valls, Barcelona (Spain) to honour the heroic struggle of the Biafrans. ImageImageImageImage
They created a symbolic pennant& founded the Biafran Football club in order to draw world attention to the plight of Biafra, using one of the most focused methods known to humanity—Football. CF Biafra had about hundred players from Reus to Pla, from Nulles to Tarragona. Image
They settled in El Vilar, within the federated amateur league and rode all the way to the Third Regional League.

Half a century later, the golden anniversary of the Biafra football club was celebrated. Image

"Igbo Language is not complete"

When I hear people say this, I shake my head, shake it again. Who told you that Igbo language is not complete?

Let me open this discourse with an adage: "nkụ dị na mba na-eghere mba nri". (The firewoods of a people cook their food)
We have a complete language base on what we have in our locality, but when we begin to see foreign things, we expect those things to have Igbo name automatically. We can't find their Igbo names, we say Igbo is not complete.

Everything our parents& forebears used had Igbo names.
But as the world is advancing, we meet a lot of things, it's not a must they must have Igbo names.

Ok...we have different things in Igbo that can never be translated into English. Can we say then that English is not complete?

What is English name for ụsụrụgada?

NDIGBO VOTED IZON'S ISAAC BORO BUT HE TURNED AGAINST THEM

Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro became President of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) Students Union in the 1964/65 session, after he defeated Jude Emezie, an Igbo student, with 11 votes.
Igbo students constituted the majority at UNN and Emezie was strongly backed by the outgoing president, Onyemanze Ejiogu. There was a third candidate, Secretary General Francis Okolie. Igbo students chose Boro, an Izon man to lead them.
Following the flawed Federal elections of 1964, UNN under the leadership of Boro took the Federal Government to court. Boro was First Plaintiff. Second Plaintiff was Emezie.

Boro did not return to Nsukka after that. He chose to remain in Lagos. The FCT then.

Who Killed Adaka Boro? Why the Blame on Igbo Accusing them of Betrayal? Was Adaka Boro Betrayed?

I have read many false history that breeds hatred against the Igbo, regarding Adaka Boro. Majority of Ijaw believe the Igbo betrayed Adaka Boro and killed him. This makes me laugh.
Ignorance is a disease. Lack of history, Maazị just shuddering in disbelief that people can be so gullible to peddle falsehood for what gain?

Let's go to history.

Who is Adaka Boko? Isaac Adaka Boro was a University of Nigeria, Nsụka's student.
He was also the SUG president of the said university. He failed election two times before he won, then blamed his failure on Igbo, claiming he lost because he was Ijaw and suffered tribalism in his region. Remember, Adaka Boro was enjoying the scholarship of Eastern Region Govt.

This is Ọkpọsị Salt Lake. It has great historical narrative. During the war, salt was like gold. Biafrans suffered from kwashiorkor. There was a need for salt. There's something called ahịa attack. Women went in search for and traded in salt.

Now let me tell you something... ImageImage
Salt was a great business of women during the war. They trekked from different part of ala Igbo and found themselves in Uburu and Ọkpọsị to get salt for their own survival. It was a risky journey. They mostly went by night, following bush-path and forests for fear of Army.
The lives of their children depend on salt. Kwashiorkor was striking them. They took the risk. If anything want to happen let it happen. Women trek from Ajalị, Okigwe, Agụata, and different parts of Biafran land to Uburu and Ọkpọsị to get salt.
