Out sick today
I'm okay
I'll return tomorrow
On top of all the other Trump spygate news
We now know the extent to which Meadows pressured DOJ
And Chris Wray's testimony today?
Only 1 thing to say:
Holy. Shit.

gizmodo.com/parler-warned-…
2/"during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday probing the security failures that led to the insurrection, it was revealed that on more than 50 occasions, Parler had attempted to warn the FBI of the growing potential for violence.
3/"Parler had uncovered “specific threats of violence being planned at the Capitol” on its platform and was apparently ready to sing like a canary in the weeks leading up to January 6, outing its own members and providing transcripts of the concerning communication to the feds.
4/"When asked outright by Swalwell during testimony whether or not his agency had received any intelligence from social media companies Christopher Wray was evasive & seemed to downplay the existence of direct evidence that would have pointed to a mounting insurrectionist threat"
5/"“We’ve had so much information, I’m reluctant to answer any questions about the word ‘any,’” Wray said. “Certainly we were aware of online chatter about the potential for violence,
6/"but I’m not aware that we had any intelligence indicating that hundreds of individuals were going to storm the Capitol itself, to my knowledge.”
7/"When pressed on whether or not the FBI had received intelligence from Parler specifically prior to the Jan. 6 attack, Wray conceded that it had, but declined to give specifics on what kind of intelligence had been relayed.
8/"“My understanding is that they sent emails to a particular Field Office and that some of those contained possible threat information and some of them were referred to domestic terrorism squads,” he said.
9/"One post Parler said it forwarded to the FBI called for an armed mob of 150k to march on D.C. on order to “react to the congressional events of [1/6]” Another sought recruits for “lighting up Antifa in [DC]on the 6th” because the user wanted to “start eliminating people"

NYT pointing out that Don McGahn was Trump campaign's top lawyer in 2016 & interacted with Manafort
Trump DOJ subpoenaed McGahn's personal info the day AFTER Mueller unsealed new fraud charges against Manafort
Was this about Russia, too?
(thread)
nytimes.com/2021/06/13/us/…
2/"One of the roughly concurrent events was that the federal court in the EDVA was the center of one part of the Russia inquiry led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, that focused on Paul Manafort, the onetime chairman of the 2016 Trump presidential campaign
3/"Because Mr. McGahn had been the top lawyer for the Trump campaign in 2016, it is possible that at some earlier point he had been among those in contact with someone whose account the Mueller team was scrutinizing in early 2018

New:
Giving new meaning to targeting political opponents:
"Trump had the DOJ seize records from Apple for metadata of House Intelligence Committee members, their aides & family members"
Unsurprising
Yet still absolutely stunning:
nytimes.com/2021/06/10/us/…
2/"As the Justice Department investigated who was behind leaks of classified information early in the Trump administration, it took a highly unusual step: Prosecutors subpoenaed Apple for data from the accounts of at least two Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee,
3/"aides and family members. One was a minor. All told, the records of at least a dozen people tied to the committee were seized in 2017 and early 2018, including those of Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, then the panel’s top Democrat and now its chairman,

Chris Murphy issued a statement today saying that gun control talks with Cornyn have broken down
The issue: agreeing on a measure to meaningfully increase the number of gun sales that require background checks
He says he's now "talking with other" GOP about this
Not looking good
Sen Murphy's statement:
"I’ve spent a lot of time talking with Senator Cornyn about proposals to increase background checks. I have been very open to compromise and I think Senator Cornyn was negotiating in good faith.
⬇️
"But we haven't been able to get to a bill that would meaningfully increase the number of gun sales that require background checks

NEW:
Uh oh!!!
Per WaPo:
Manhattan DA Cy Vance's office has convened a special grand jury in the Trump Organization case (& others)
This suggests Vance has found evidence of crime
Could indict Trump, his execs, Trump Org itself or a combo
washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
2/"Manhattan's district attorney has convened the grand jury that is expected to decide whether to indict .. Trump, other executives at his company or the business itself should prosecutors present the panel with criminal charges
3/"The panel was convened recently and will sit three days a week for six months. It is likely to hear several matters — not just the Trump case — during the duration of its term, which is longer than a traditional New York state grand-jury assignment, these people said.

Here's Moore Capito's response:
"During today’s call, the White House came back with a counteroffer that is well above the range of what can pass Congress with bipartisan support.
3/"There continue to be vast differences between the White House and Senate Republicans when it comes to the definition of infrastructure, the magnitude of proposed spending, and how to pay for it.

"..'if the current Republican Party controls both Houses of Congress on Jan. 6, 2025, there’s no way if a Democrat is legitimately elected they will get certified as the president-elect.'"
PAY attention! GOP must NOT win majority in 22!!
nytimes.com/2021/05/13/opi…
2/"Liz Cheney’s removal from [GOP] House leadership is the latest sign that Newland is probably right. Today’s Republican Party has no political philosophy in the normal sense; it is .. organized around fealty to Trump and the stab-in-the-back myth that the election was stolen..
3/"Cheney had to go because she rejects that lie, recognizing it as inimical to democracy, which she continues to value. Her defenestration is one more indication that the party is preparing to do in the next election what it could not do in the last one.
