Barking, The Cube and others. When the £1bn fund was announced they were told it wasn't enough and buildings in #GreaterManchester that had identified deficiencies at that stage could need 25% of it with the biggest known cost £11m. Since then the problem has grown and grown.
There are thousands of residents trapped in homes they don't feel safe in. The true costs of fixing the problem just grow.
The failed regulatory system that allowed unsafe Cladding onto buildings also allowed developers and builders to cut costs and build without cavity barriers
to leave breaches in compartmentation, to fit AOVs but not comnect them. To take the money and walk away.
So residents buildings with safe Cladding but no compartmentation face costs higher than replacing Cladding. Residents @SGILeaseholders face a £36m bill to effectively
rebuild their walls. Residents at the @GqrMcr who won the battle over ACM but are still stuck unable to sell because of what's been discovered since.
And the Government doesn't recognise the figures?
Well I do because I hear about them every day.
I recognise them because I have
LISTENED and learnt in the last four years. I recognise them because so many people have worked so hard to try and make sure the absolute tragedy that was Grenfell cannot happen again.
Saying the figures are not accurate when you have none of your own is an absolutely appalling
response.
The Government needs to hang it's head in shame and then very quickly "give it a wobble" and start to work with people to find some long term sustainable solutions pretty quick.
And finally I know my anger and frustration pales into insignicance compared to those who
fear putting their children to bed and sleeping themselves, fear opening the post and worry about losing their homes and jobs. But I'm still angry and I will continue to shout about this issue and try and amplify the voices of others until its fixed.
