Why Taylor Swift didn’t accept a deal with scooter braun: another chapter about shitty male power in the music industry. A thread 🧵:

We need to start saying that Scooter was Kanye's manager. He actually is manager of J*stin B*eber and Ar*ana Gr*ande, J*stin and Ar*ana don’t own their music catalogue

It all started with a call that taylor got from kanye asking her for a permission to say her name in a kanye's new song. Then the song was released, and There was a offensive message to taylor: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex
Why? I made that bitch famous”

This wasn’t true, because until the incident in 2009, Taylor’s album fearless had sold more than 3 million copies in the usa. So, Taylor wasn’t happy with that lyrics because it was giving the wrong message to their fans

Taylor decided to give an empowering message to the young women:“there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame”

Then kim kardashian posted a video that se recorded of the call that kanye made. This video was edited and she made everybody believe that Taylor was lying and manipulating them. Years later, the original video was leaked, and then we realized that taylor always said the true

But Taylor’s world went down when kim tweeted this. Since this tweet everybody turned against tay, even her friends.

And things were getting even worse. Kanye made a “porn-revenge” music video, putting a tay figure all naked without her consent.

And you may be asking what does have to do scooter with this. Well he sponsored and participated of the massive bullying that everybody did to taylor.

Then scott brochetta sold BMR to scooter braun in a millionaire deal. Scott betrayed taylor because he didn’t talk with her before the deal was made, neither after. He sold taylor entire discography to the man that made her go through a hell in 2016-2017.

Taylor posted a letter on her tumblr talking about how she felt about that deal. The same day, scooter posted this on social media, saying that he “bought taylor swift”.

Scooter of course played the victim, saying that his family was being threatened because of Taylor’s letter. And of course j*stin and scooters male friends defended him on social media with one intention: invalidating her feelings, once again.

So taylor realized that she had the right to re record her masters, because she was the writer of her songs, and she talked about it in social media and television.

Then the amas announced that taylor was their artist of the decade. She was supposed to perform a medley with her biggest songs, that were owned by scooter so she asked them for a permission to sing them live.

But scooter said that he wasn’t giving the permission unless taylor retracted about re recording her masters. So taylor posted another letter asking her fans and friends for help because she didn’t know what else to do…

With all the social pressure, scooter didn’t have another option but letting taylor perform at the amas, and let Netflix use her songs for the documentary

Then it was announced that tay's masters were sold (without her consent, again) to another company. Tay posted about it on social media, she said that scooter was offering her a deal just to silenced her, and with that deal she wasn’t even getting her masters back

So scooter never wanted to sell those records to taylor. And now she is working hard, and claiming what is hers.
This is an example of how men steal women’s work. But it is also an example of a woman working hard to take back what belongs to her.
