Knowing the anatomy of a great tweet will get more tweeps to click ❤️ on your tweets.

Here's a thread that breaks down the anatomy using examples.

Most great tweets follow this anatomy:

HOOK - Why should I read?
LINE - Who is this for + How is it useful?
SINKER - What now?

Let me explain
HOOK 🎣

The brain takes less than a second to make a judgement.

The purpose of the HOOK is to grab and keep attention.

Let me show you examples.
Why is this a great HOOK from @iamkoshiek?

He shoots from the hip with a 6-word tweet that packs a punch.
It's a hot take that brings you may have thought to the timeline.
Massive bonus for the pun & leveraging topical affairs.

You want to know what will happen after 6 months which makes you continue reading.

You haven't acted on them all.
He made you feel an emotion... shame?
Why is this a great HOOK from @mashstartup?

It's a concise tweet that gets straight to the point.
You understood the whole idea of the tweet in a matter of seconds.

Memes are also a great visual hack for condensing ideas.
Now that you've seen the HOOK in action lets move on to the LINE.

You are then rewarded with practical ways to break the cycle of stress.

Remember the first tweet of this thread you're reading?

It had a HOOK & a LINE.

A question attracts your attention.
You know it's for you if you've had 0 likes on a tweet.
You are then rewarded with a breakdown on getting more likes on your tweets.
Now that you've seen the LINE in action let's move on to the SINKER!
SINKER 🎣

A dose of dopamine makes the brain euphoric and motivated.
A fertile state for changing behaviour.

The purpose of the SINKER is to drive a specific action.

Let me show you examples
Why is this a great SINKER from @fredtheinvestor?

The action requested is clear.
You benefitted from education before his request for action.
Why is this a great SINKER from @akreana_?

The action requested will lead to a reward.
The reward is belonging. You will feel heard if you act.

This 4-word tweet has a HOOK, LINE & SINKER which creates a perfect feedback loop.
Why is this a great SINKER from @mashstartup?

The action requested is clear.
You benefitted from entertainment before his request for action.

The bonus is that he intermingles the joke into the call-to-action.
Let me finish with a SINKER from one of my previous threads.

The action requested is clear.
You benefitted from education before my request for action.
Let's recap.

Want more people clicking ❤️ on your next tweet?
Then ask yourself these questions before clicking tweet.
One more thing.

A SINKER isn't always direct.
But every great tweet is an indirect request for one of 3 actions:

1. Like
2. Retweet
3. Reply
Thanks for reading until the end.
