Again beyond the fact that compromise with fascists is philosophically undesirable and morally unsupportable, it’s also impossible as a simple practical matter.

They desire only domination. They believe only they are legitimate. By definition this leaves no room for compromise.

Since the Obama presidency represented an 8 year commitment to compromise proving definitively that compromise with Republicans is impossible, it’s simultaneously horrifying and frustrating to see Obama’s VP waste the first year of his presidency needlessly re-proving it.

It seems so bloody obvious it shouldn’t need to be said, much less attempted, but you can’t create solutions with people who want the problems.

There seem to be people who take this as a call to give up.

I disagree. It’s a call to stop giving up.

Voting for people to represent us is important, but expecting results is just as important. Expecting them to stop pursuing failed strategy is a part of that.

Going into 2020, there was a sense Republican obstructionism and authoritarianism will require drastic unilateral action if we were to save our democracy and our planet.

Biden’s pitch was, no, I can convince them to work with us. I know them. They’ll change.

They didn’t change.

He thought they’d change. They didn’t. McConnell is 100% committed to his failure.

So, time for HIM to change.

Yes, Manchin and Sinema present obstacles. If they weren’t obstacles, there would still be others.

Job is to overcome the obstacles.

Failure isn’t an option.
