Trump's speech was another incitement for violence. The Right views the military as an impediment against another insurrection/potential coup. This is why Trump & the Echo Chamber have been coordinating an assault on the legitimacy/stability of the military. It's important...1/ Image
....to remember that 53 of the 500 people arrested for the Jan. 6th insurrection were former/current military. The Right knows the military has a potential extremist problem, except that rather than attempt to understand and solve the problem,...2/
...Trump, and the Right Wing Media Echo Chamber are attempting to exacerbate and inflame the problem.

The Echo Chamber knows that FOX is on nearly every TV in and around military bases, so when Ted Cruz talks about the military being emasculated....3/
......and when Matt Gaetz and J.D. Vance talk about the military losing wars....4/
....and when Laura Ingraham calls for the defending the military as a means to "cancel" the Joint Chiefs of Staff (to own the libs)...6/....
.....and when Tucker Carlson not only states that General Milley is not brave or brilliant.....7/....
.....but also calls the highest ranking military officer a pig, and stupid.....8/....
This is all a coordinated attempt to sow doubt in military leadership and divisiveness in military leadership, because the military is an institution that relies on nearly unwavering/unquestioning adherence to the chain of command power structure.....9/
....Because if the Right can divide or destabilize the ranks with racial (anti"wokeness"), or competency ("emasculated") mischaracterizations.....it weakens yet another institution that stands in the way of their authoritarian movement. 10/
Bringing this back to Trump's speech, there were a lot of parallel themes leading up to January 6th. To date, there have been zero consequences for any of the incitement.

This has increased the chances of it happening again.

Article about device addiction by @brianklaas, which references @JonHaidt's book "the Anxious Generation" analyzing the effect smart phones have on kids.

I work with kids who struggle with electronic device dependency/addiction.

Let's unpack...

1/

forkingpaths.co/p/the-moronic-…
In my sessions kids & parents, we focus on device dependency/addiction...

...the neuropsychology of addiction (dopamine)...

...analogizing it to other addictions for perspective...

....and distinguishing it from other addictions to show how difficult it is to manage....

2/
.....b/c unlike other addictions, we can't completely abstain from electronics in modern society.

So it's like telling an alcoholic they not only CAN have several drinks each day...

...but they MUST have several drinks each day...

...and to just not "overdo it".

Good article by @brianklaas:

I attached relevant threads about Qanon, the neuropsychology of conspiracy theory susceptibility, and how dopamine/addiction and celebrity gossip/entertainment factors in, etc.

It's difficult to remember all of the things that should repulse otherwise decent people who continue to support a severely disordered man who they would otherwise condemn in any other context.

Perhaps the most important factor in analyzing political behavior:

People have an innate need to believe they are the "good guys".

Let’s unpack….

1/
Image
At the core of “Us-versus-Them” narratives is the in-group’s innate belief that they are the "good guys"...

.....and that the "out group", or the “them” are the "bad guys".

2/
Another important point is the role that victimhood plays in us-versus-them, “good guy” narratives.

Victimhood both implicitly/explicitly frames conflict in terms of good guys and bad guys:

The victims are always the "good guys"...

...and perpetrators are always bad guys.

Dopamine appears to play a role in confirmation bias, tribalism, conspiracy theory susceptibility, & “revenge politics".

People often ask:

How do we fix this, or “detox” the country?

After studying recent clinical trial data...

...is the answer “Ozempic”?

Let’s unpack…

1/
First, let’s review:

In 2018, I observed the parallels in political tribalism/conflict, and addiction.

I asked an advisor if i could focus on this in a grad school thesis, but was told I didn’t have the time, and the program didn’t have the resources.

2/
In 2021, I alluded to a possible addiction/dopamine link with politics in a @projectlincoln podcast......
