And I heard the response I always hear. “Oh me too of course! Just not near a SCHOOL.” The fear this campaign has spread about what will happen to our children if we let [insert dehumanizing words for folks in recovery] live near us has been next level.
The reality is, to put it where there are no schools would be to take it out of town. So by saying “not near schools” they’re saying “not near us at all.” As soon as the city passed the permit, there was talk of gating our community. I couldn’t help thinking of something I read..
