1/x If you really want to see how things are in GOP politics, don't listen to talking head shows, just read the articles at Townhall written by party loyalists who want sore loser Trump to go away & then scroll down to the comments.
The article in question, by @RebeccaRoseGold, is a fairly neutral writeup for the crybaby speech the exprez delivered. It was massively triggering to the supposedly "tough" and "manly" Townhall audience.
The #1 voted comment whines that she invaded his safe space
"Douglas" gets some pushback but doubles down by implying that anything Trump claims is a "hoax" or a "crime" should be assumed to be so. No quotation marks allowed according to little Douglas.
Right-wing media audiences expect total devotion to the great leader
Others chime in as well, angry that Downs dared to quote Sen. Roy Blunt as saying it's time to move on and stop whining and crying about losing in 2020.
Of course, she's correct in this regard. Trump's sore loser response divides Republicans and alienates independents.
Later on in the discussion, after scores of offended, pearl-clutching remarks about neutral political coverage, one commenter claims that "real Americans" aren't afraid to state the truth. No one sees the hypocrisy
Further on, a Trump opponent who somehow hasn't been banned for political incorrectness gets a dig in at the failed exprez and is promptly told he's "blocked" by a baby who can't handle it
I won't quote all of them but the thread is filled with vituperations against someone just trying to do her job. Trumpism has become a cult whose followers demand total absolute obedience. Neutral journalism is not permitted, despite all the fake cries of "liberal media bias"
Townhall and every other conservative site is read by people who hate it. Far-right Republicans hate their own party and have for decades. Here's a comment thread degrading Downs and also Townhall writer Guy Benson for being gay.
The abuse goes on for hundreds more comments
This is how the comments on all major right-wing website are.
The GOP will never be rid of Trump until it casts out the vicious reactionaries who call themselves "conservatives."
He & they will gladly take down the GOP along w/them if they cannot destroy America /end

🧵 This Wall Street Journal deep dive into the Republican lies about Springfield is a must read look into JD Vance's total dishonesty.
After spreading vague rumors for days, Vance's staff provided one verified name, Anna Kilgore. Her cat was perfectly fine.
Vance also lied about diseases supposedly increasing in Springfield.
They are their lowest since 2013. Vance is trashing his own state and his own constituents to help his insane orange boss.
Vance was privately warned off the story before the debate by Springfield officials. He hadn't even checked before he slandered a city in his own state.
Despite the correction, he refused to retract. Then Trump promoted the lie as well.
🧵 From start to finish, Kamala Harris dominated Donald Trump.
At the beginning, she pointed out how he worsened the pandemic and destroyed the economy.
After pointing out his 1/6 treason, she then pointed out that Trump would lie constantly during the discussion. He did...
Notably, when Trump responded, he deliberately refused to mention the Covid-19 vaccines. This was him being beholden to the RFK conspiracy crowd. The vaccines were literally the only pandemic action he could reasonably have claimed to have done right.
He was afraid to.
Harris continued the economics lesson, noting how economists say his bumper-sticker plan would cause hyperinflation. He had no response other than petulance.
Only fake economists like Stephen Moore like Trump's plans. He's terrible for business.
This was her first personal tweak of Trump, noting his alma mater, the Wharton School of Business, said her plan was better for the economy.
As they've done so often during the DNC, Fox is refusing to air one of the many Republicans/ex-Republicans who are speaking for Kamala Harris.
Right now, Fox commentators are talking over Adam Kinzinger. They absolutely do not want Republicans to hear a contrary speech.
Update: Fox did not air a single bit of Kinzinger's speech.
Remember this, and when they censored all the Black speakers on DNC night 1 next time you hear a Foxbot complain about "cancel culture" or "media censorship."
Update: Fox talked over Roy Cooper during his entire speech as well.
Can't let North Carolinian and Southern voters hear from him. This is part of the Republican strategy to lie about the many white people who are Democrats.
At 78, Donald Trump is the oldest major party presidential nominee. Kamala Harris, at 59, represents a stark contrast with her youth and energy.
But she also has a real looks advantage on Trump. Barack Obama said she was"by far, the best looking attorney general in the country."
By comparison, Trump is obese, elderly, and stark raving mad. He knows it's an unhelpful juxtaposition.
“Kamala Harris has an attractive spirit, is more attractive physically, and is an all-around more attractive candidate. Trump can’t stand that,” @suzannahweiss told me.
🧵 During my former days as a Republican media commentator, I was always frustrated that my fellow rightwingers were so lazy and biased that they routinely promoted nonsense w/o bothering to verify.
Trump did this today falsely claiming that Kamala Harris faked a crowd w/AI...
On his Untruth Social site, Trump promoted a tweet from a low-grade Twitter user who accused Kamala Harris of using AI to fake a crowd photo.
The accusation is totally false and easily disproven by the many live videos shot by people there, as well as other photos.
The photo posted by Trump and the Twitter user is quite different than verified real photos posted by the AP of Air Force Two arriving in Minneapolis.
As you can see in the real photo, the crowd is dark and very little can be seen of their features. Not so with the other pic
