More than two months into Arizona’s sham “audit,” we still don’t know:

-how much it costs
-where the money raised for it is going
-what lawmakers are saying about it over text and email
-who is running its social media

We’re investigating. We’ve filed over a dozen records requests to learn more about the partisan process & in May we sued Arizona’s Senate for related records.

So far, we’ve obtained records showing Senate Pres. Karen Fann’s contact with Rudy Giuliani & conspiracy theorists.
We also uncovered that Donald Trump called Fann to thank her for “pushing to prove any fraud.”

We asked the New York governor’s office for directives it issued regarding the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 within correctional facilities.

Alarmingly, the office told us it had no such records.

Specifically, we asked the office for directives regarding testing” or “Measures to review and/or expedite applications for limited release, temporary release, leaves of absence, medical parole, commutations, and clemencies during the pandemic.”
We also asked for assessments regarding the risks of Covid-19 to correctional facilities, including those addressing morbidity or mortality risks, the availability of PPE and medical equipment. Again, the office told us it had no such records.

The Arizona Senate released new records to us related to its partisan “audit” in Maricopa County.
The documents reveal new details about the involvement of outside companies as well as the role of Sen. Fann in preparing for the operation. #FOIAFriday

Security at Arizona’s bogus “audit” is being handled by private groups, and we’ve uncovered more details about the agreements under which they’re operating, reports the @azmirror.

Much of the Senate’s sham process, from issues regarding how it’s being funded to the extent of certain groups’ involvement, has been shrouded in secrecy. Outside organizations have been raising money for the recount.
The newly released documents contain service agreements with groups providing security for the operation, including Anderson Security Agency, Law Enforcement Specialists, and the armed volunteer organization the Arizona Rangers.

LAWSUIT UPDATE: Today, we filed a new brief in our lawsuit against the Arizona Senate for records related to its sham “audit.” The public has a right to the facts about the audit and its objectives, and we’re continuing to seek answers.

On May 19, we filed suit under Arizona’s public records law after the Senate failed to release documents related to the Maricopa County “audit,” including communications with contractor Cyber Ninjas.

We're investigating the sham “audit” in Arizona.

Records we obtained, reported on by @maddow, show a group had gone door to door to more than 3,000 homes asking Arizonans about their votes in the 2020 election.
The group, called the Citizen’s Non-Partisan Grassroots Project, put together a report in early March, which we obtained. The report alleges that 52% of the houses canvassed in Maricopa and Pima Counties “required an affidavit for an irregularity.”

The report’s dubious conclusions — and the fact that non-official canvassers were engaging in potential voter intimidation — shows the level of conspiracy surrounding the “Big Lie” and Arizona’s bogus “audit.”

Records we obtained further show top DHS officials during the Trump administration were in contact with far-right anti-immigrant groups.

We FOIA’d DHS in 2020 for Ken Cuccinelli’s and Chad Mizelle’s communications with anti-immigrant groups after they became the DHS acting deputy secretary and acting chief of staff.
The documents show Mizelle and Chad Wolf, who served as the acting DHS secretary, were in contact with far-right anti-immigrant groups, including the Federation for American Immigration Reform, an @splc-designated hate group.
