Tucker Carlson goes ape about defending single-family zoning, spends 13 minutes arguing density will make neighborhoods more left-wing. He blames "foreigners" and BlackRock solely for the housing crisis and says the gov't is bullying local communities.

Tucker says attempts to allow multifamily housing in affluent Westchester County, NY would turn it into place of high rise apartments and drug addicted slums. I mean to be fair coastal liberals say this, just privately, is all.
fyi in case you're new here, foreign governments are not "buying up" housing stock in any meaningful numbers and private equity shouldn't buy up homes but they're speculating off a national housing shortage which is the issue affirmatively furthering fair housing is addressing.
Abolishing single-family zoning is not "banning suburban homes", it merely allows more than 1 home per lot, increasing families in areas. Minneapolis now allows three-family housing. Mandating only 1 family per lot exists only in the US but culture warriors gonna culture war.
There's nothing really inconsistent about Tucker's beliefs here. Of course a populist far-rightest likes social engineering like single-family zoning. The question is before zoning became a national issue it was liberals who became conservatives on this issue.
