We are happy to share that a research paper on smart contract invocation across different blockchains co-authored by our CDL-BOT Head, Stefan Schulte, was accepted to the IEEE International Conference on Decentralized Applications and Infrastructures 2021: arxiv.org/abs/2010.07352
Scientific publications follow a rigorous scheme. For fixed deadlines, researchers submit their findings formatted for a specific workshop, conference or journal. These documents are then reviewed by anonymous peers, which serves as a basis for accepting a paper for publication.
Aside from citation, formatting and general scientific work rules, academic research papers are required to provide novel and profound insights. Some papers make it to publication directly and some need a few rounds of reviewing, while some simply become outdated.
In White Paper 10, we tackle the same question as in the accepted paper, using an abstract notion of cross-blockchain information transfer (which can be a relay or an oracle). The now accepted paper makes the information transfer an integral part of the protocol.
We currently favour our modular approach of making cross-chain smart contracts independent of cross-chain information transfers. However, it is certainly nice to see this paper published and we will keep the benefits of this alternative approach in mind.
