Good morning! I’m here at a protest and counter-protest at WI SPA- recently a viral video of a woman upset at a trans woman attending the spa and being naked was released, which led to the story being featured on many programs like Tucker Carlson. One right leaning man is leaving
It should also be noted that @_preciouschild , who streams at protests received death threats from several accounts.
Several more right wing protestors have arrived- currently the numbers stand at about 40 supporting the WISPA business, with 3 protesting the business but the protest against the business is in a few hours
One woman just removed a sign that says “wee wee spa” from the WI spa protestors and tore it up. Some applaud.
One man removed a sign which contained some trans phobic language from the WI SPA protestors, then the man who owned the sign attempted to mace the crowd and a pretty one sided fight began. Security broke up the fight.
The pro-Trans right side of things now on both sides of the street. None of the WI SPA protestors in front of WI SPA, they’ve moved to a corner nearby.
A smaller confrontation, the WISPA protestors now even further away.
Hearing reports of a gun from some of the people protesting WISPA - @PlasticJesus9 showed me a picture which I’m sure he will end up releasing
One man confronted and pushed. @wysiwygtv , a streamer who is often identified by protestors as right leaning punched and maced. He’s getting ambulatory care now.
@wysiwygtv talking to the police, yelled at another videographer. Getting medical right now.
Situation has calmed down - a bit more festive now, some drums and… novelty bicycles? Is that the word?
Another fight started after some people arrived with shirts that advertise Jesus and some black and gold shirts as well.
@directedbyrocky hit by a pipe by a man, he took video and will release it shortly.
A few more WI Spa protestors showing up. Chased out of the area in front of WI Spa.
One man protesting the WI Spa has a “Banzai Fight Club” shirt with S shaped lightning bolts.
Verbal confrontation. Man says the counter protestors stole his phone, I’m not sure how it ended up in the WISPA protestor hands but he got it back.
Another fight. Will update as I can. Police presence large.
Will fill in gaps later. Unlawful Assembly either declared or about to be declared; can’t quite hear which.
Things seeming to calm down now, working backwards.
From fight footage earlier and a bit more context. During fight, man is shiver then shoved a woman. After that, large crowd began fighting him.
Police getting in between both sides.
A man ripped off his shirt and began yelling at the crowd. Took a swing and towards the crowd and was arrested while the crowd began advancing towards him.
Attempted to interview two men who were there to protest WI Spa regarding their t-shirts. Some background from @Medium - medium.com/memewarweekly/…
The man with the “rooftop Korean” was involved in a fight with a smaller woman about 15 seconds after the interview.
(@desertborder filmed the fight and I’m sure will release later)
Reports of a man stabbed by a WISPA protestor. I’ll update when I have more information. Reports of man with a bat who threatened a reporter on scene. I’ll update later. Police presence growing (the unlawful called not long after). Bottles being thrown.
Stand off between the counter protestors and LAPD - one woman thrown by the neck backwards and less lethal pointed at point blank range.
Here’s a few stills from how close the less lethal was pointed.
More of the conflict between LAPD and the counter protestors. Some pushing by LAPD, can hear the police radio talking about separating the two groups and cars.
A truly bizarre exchange- man with camera goes through police line, I ask to do same.
Unlawful Assembly called, after a dumpster was pushed towards the police line after the police line advanced one block. Dumpster set aflame.
LAPD pushes forward a bit more while one coloumn moves to the street on the side. One counter protestor thrown onto the ground.
LAPD continuing to push forward, one less lethal fired into crowd.
Things thinning down now: the counter protest crowd pushed back to the WISPA area.
A few thoughts I think are important to share here. Noticing a lot of people neglecting to mention a few details while debating today.
1/ The WISPA protest crowd did stab one man today
2/ The spa which was being protested against is a place where people are often nude
3/ Taking footage from this account and cutting it is and not giving credit is going to get you a DMCA claim every time.
4/ Safe and sound. Very sunburnt.
5/ A gun was pulled by the group protesting WISPA
6/ Several reports of a videographer was hit in the head with a metal pole by people protesting WISPA
Some follow up stuff on the thread: looks like the report of a gun is a taser, specifically a Taser Pulse. Anyone have any insight on tape?
More additional notes: footage of the moment one of the counter protestors was stabbed in the leg shows that the man who stabbed him additionally was the person who slashed the WI SPA protestor’s arm in what looks like an accident.
I’m OTG at the UCLA Gaza Solodarity Encampment. A large group of pro-Israel demonstrators are around. One person from the encampment looks very hurt. Hundreds throughout the area.
Reports of fireworks being thrown towards the encampment. Seeing a plume of smoke (looks like just firework smoke for now) coming from near the encampment.
One person (I can’t say for sure which side he’s on) treating what appears to be a pepper spray injury.
Breaking: a group of pro-Palestine demonstrators have blocked the intersection of El Segundo and Continental in El Segundo, CA (Raytheon has buildings at this area)
Vehicles attempting to go in appear to be attempting entrance in another place for the time being.
I’m unclear on who, but some shoving from an employee at Raytheon towards some people who were near some graffiti over the Raytheon sign in front of their office in el Segundo, CA
Greetings! I’m in Los Angeles, where a group of about 40 are gathered regarding Takar Smith, who was killed during a mental health call by LAPD. LAPD alleges he had a knife over his head; protesters are calling that into question.
Family of Takar Smith and protesters on a caravan (both vehicle and on foot) and marching.
Protesters and family of Takar Smith have arrived at Rampart Station.
Do these folks wearing brown berets look familiar? All were in attendance in support of KDL at a recent city council meeting.
These are all members (or at least consistently around) the Brown Beret National Party in LA. *Not to be confused with the Aztlaneca Brown Berets in LA*
