I am not here to celebrate the “independence” of white men from a white monarch. I am not here to celebrate “independence” overseen by slavers: 10 of the US' first 12 presidents owned slaves. I am not here to celebrate “Founding Fathers” aka white slave-owning patriarchy #July4th
I am here to celebrate women who led revolts against slavers, such as the Black woman in New York City who 68yrs before the date that the US celebrates as its “Independence Day,” led a revolt for her independence.
Her story and others were unearthed by historian Rebecca Hall @WakeRevolt while researching her dissertation which she has turned into the graphic novel Wake: The Hidden History of Women-Led Slave Revolts.
Read more about these freedom fighters erased from history by patriarchy.
I’ve been accused of inciting violence, being reckless, victim blaming. All because I say it is our right to fight back. We are not socialized to fight back.
A TV episode was banned because among other things, I asked “How long must we wait for men and boys to stop murdering us, to stop beating us and to stop raping us? How many rapists must we kill?"
When are we going to ban patriarchy for its daily violence?
And those who tell me I'm endangering women and making them vulnerable to being hurt by saying it is our right to fight back:
Women are already in danger and being hurt every single by cis men around the world. Every fucking day, including in lockdown. What fucking world is this?
“You cannot accept that we don’t fear you...” AOC to Trump.
That sentence is the beating heart behind the subversion and thrill of Black and Indigenous and women of colour telling white supremacist patriarchy to fuck off today.
From the Squad to Nikole Hannah-Jones: Black and women of colour who refuse to be grateful because the white boys let them in their club feministgiant.com/p/essay-aoc-th…
For too many old, white, wealthy men--and many white women--young powerful Black and women of colour are terrifying. because they put patriarchy and its attendant oppressions on notice.
"Rise up, women wake up! As in the struggle workers are engaged in against capitalists to break down the class system, our demands for freedom and equality with men will not be won...if we do not raise our voices, if no blood is shed,”Japanese anarchist feminist Kanno Sugako, 1906
"All these compañeros, however radical they may be in cafes, unions, even (Anarchist) groups, seem to drop their costumes as lovers of female liberation at the doors of their homes," anarchist Lola Iturbe declared in 1935 Spain. patreon.com/posts/book-rev…
Did you know Black women led revolts against slavers and that historians have not classified these warriors as leaders of revolts because "coordinated acts of violent resistance were exclusively planned by men, conventional wisdom held"? Read about @WakeRevolt work to change that

I do not make six figures. I am not making more than I ever have.
That has never been the point of FEMINIST GIANT.
I could put everything behind a paywall but I believe feminist ideas and news must be available to all and not just those with money. feministgiant.com/p/coming-soon?…
