90% of startups fail.

So how can you make your customers love you so much that you couldn't fail if you tried?

Answer: create atomic habits.

Here are 10 lessons from Atomic Habits by @jamesclear to grow your startup:
1. Focus on tactics that compound

Create extreme focus around high-leverage areas and go all in.

Examples:

- Improving conversion rates
- Increasing customer retention
- Building a phenomenal community
2. Focus on systems more than goals

You still need a clear goal, but nothing gets done without a plan and action.

Consider:

- Have a clear goal in mind
- Focus on becoming, not on accomplishing a task
- Our company wants to become X...
- We want customers to become Y...
3. Reverse engineer the system for achieving it

Once you have your goal, establish a system by giving content to:

- Tasks
- Experiments
- Projects
- Hires
- New products
- Price increases
4. Make your value obvious

Don’t make anyone think.

Make it:

- Obvious how to use the product
- Obvious why someone should want to use it
- Obvious how to share it with others
5. Make your product attractive

It should be clear what benefits you’re offering the customer.

Make it:

- Attractive for solving a core problem you have
- Attractive for making you look good to your boss
6. Make your product easy

Humans are lazy. Cater to them.

Make it:

- Easy to find
- Easy to sign up
- Easy to use
- Easy to integrate into your workday
- Easy to share with others
7. Make the experience satisfying

User experience is a top priority for startups.

Customers deserve to be delighted.

Make it:

- Satisfying to use
- Satisfying to be part of the community
- Satisfying for the company to hit goals & be rewarded
8. Stack value to create consumer habits

If you have multiple benefits to the product, stack them on each other.

The more value you provide, the more loyal your community will be.

Example:

- When customer achieves X, recommend next step Y
9. Create an environment that supports your vision

The team behind the product is the unsung hero of making a great customer experience.

Consider:

- Company culture
- Company systems
- Hiring process
10. Use the "Two-Minute Rule" for product experience

The simpler the ask, the more likely it gets completed.

Don’t make onboarding, usage, and cancellation a pain.

Consider:

1. Each main step in onboarding takes 2 mins max
2. Each main step in using the product takes 2 mins

3. Reverse engineer system to achieve
4. Make it obvious
5. Make it attractive
6. Make it easy
7. Make it satisfying
8. Stack value
9. Create an environment that supports your vision
10. Use the "Two-Min Rule"

Good landing pages make hundreds.

Great landing pages make millions.

Here are the 8 pillars every page needs to be great (plus a prize at the end):
- Intro -

To start, the difference between a 1% and 2% conversion rate (CVR) could mean millions of dollars.

Landing page optimization is one of the highest ROI tactics in your tool belt.

But none of it will work without these 8 key elements. Image
1. Clear Navigation

You need your most helpful pages listed in the navigation. Make it easy to skip between valuable portions of the site.

No massive drop-downs with 80 links.

If you're running ads to this page or just driving sign ups, take the nav away altogether. Image

I had almost no followers 1.5 years ago.

Since then:

• 75k+ followers
• 50M+ impressions
• 4x income increase

How did I get the first 5k followers?

The simple process I used:
1. Gather 10 topics to tweet about

Consider that quantity can lead to quality over time.

You'll never know what works until you try multiple things.

Pick your own 10 topics and commit to creating content around each daily.

Ex:
2. Tweet once per day about each topic

Use a simple content calendar to keep track of what you post.

Consistency is the most important function at this stage.

If you can't stay true to posting daily when you're just starting, it'll be impossible to keep going 2 years in.

Landing page not converting?

THREAD 🧵 17 pro tips to take your landing page from 0 to sales.
Tip: Pick your dream outcome before anything

What are you hoping the customer will do? What metrics determine success? Knowing this means you know what the page needs to be.
Tip: Use more white space

Avoid cramping the elements on your page. You want each section to stand out and be hyper-legible. When in doubt, space it out.

I knew nothing about marketing when I started my career.

Since, I've accelerated my learning like crazy and taken tons of notes.

🧵 18 hard-earned marketing lessons:
It's all about the hook:

If you can't write a great first line, you'll never get a reader to the second.

The hook of anything you write (ad, email, website, whatever) dictates the potential success of the campaign.

Learn to write a great hook, and you'll never go hungry again.
School writing and real writing are different things:

I was an excellent writer in school.

Then I tried using that skill to write an ad. Totally flopped.

Essay format doesn't really work on the internet.

You need a great hook, short sentences, and simple language.
