A thread on some of FC Goa Developmental team players

FC Goa have produced a lot of great talents through their dev team. Their idea of implementing the same tactics as of the first team is what makes it a world class setup as a whole. That's what biggest clubs like Barca, most popularly, do.

Sarineo Fernandes, 22, LB. He joined in 2018. He used to be the substitute of Saviour Gama when Gama was a part of the Dev team. He plays much like him. What makes me say this is the effective underlapping runs he makes, which lets him have the clearer sight of goal more often.

Underlapping runs are generally an effective part of Juan Ferrando's tactics, so it does in the Dev team.

Last season he was in the first team as the third choice LB after Gama and Sanson. He kept participating in the GPL as an integral part of the team and did a good job

Christy Davis, 22, CM/AM. He recently has been handed first team contract after his creative display for the Junior Gaurs' midfield. From the clips I managed to find, and from what I could read, he sounded like Albert Noguera. Reason behind saying this is his role and creativity.

He was the main creative force in the Dev team's midfield last season. Played in both CM and CAM positions.

He earlier used to play for FC Kerala. It's been said that KBFC, GKFC and KUFC were interested in signing him, before he eventually signed the FC Goa contract this May.

I think he should spend one more year at the Dev team. With the first team midfield already cooked with Brandon, Glan, Amarjit, Phrangki Buam and Princeton, whose best we are yet to see, it would be realistic to expect him to do so.

Nestor Dias, 22, CM/DM. Just like how Glan idolises Rowlin, Nestor idolises Lenny Rodrigues. His role is to anchor the midfield. Most of the time it's him who covers the most of the ground.

He used to play for Dempo SC. Once while facing FC Goa, he scored a goal. After the match he got to meet Derrick Perreira and later on he was signed by FC Goa for Developmental team.

Nestor Dias alongwith Flan Gomes formed a great midfield for the Junior Gaurs. Flan Gomes is 22 and mostly plays as an AM. Both were the part of the first team last season.

Aaren D'Silva was probably the best attacking prospect in the Dev team. But he had his way to Hyderabad FC. He didn't got a chance for FC Goa first team. His transfer to HFC gives Liston Colaco vibes.

Another Colaco which comes in mind is Delton Colaco. Plays LW and used to play for Sporting Goa.

Apart from Aaren D'Silva, Joybert Almeida was the only striker in the Dev team I guess.

Another name in defence which comes in mind is Lesley Rebello. 21 year old defender who has captained FC Goa at every level he has played. He has captained them in the U-18 league and the Dev team in the GPL.

If you want me to take few more names in defence, Brian Faria and 'Papuia' will be the ones. Seeing Brian reminds of Md. Ali, who is in the first team. He is the most experienced player in the reserves side (25). Leader in the defence.

While Papuia (20) has been used at both CB and RB positions there. Sometimes he rotate positions with Lesley Rebello. Papuia is an Aizawl FC graduate who moved to FCG last season. According to Transfermarkt his contract was expiring this May. I don't know about his current status

Dylan D'Silva, 21, GK. I think he was registered last season with the first team. And rightfully so. He deserves to be among the top choices of the club as a whole. He has been performing consistently from past few years. He saved a penalty against Sporting Goa in the GPL.

He should definitely be atleast the second or third choice of the club. Possibly he and Shubham Dhas, another former Dev team GK, should be the backups for Dheeraj in the coming few years. If the club is willing to put faith on another Dev team products in the form of GK.

In reality, breaking into the first team isn't going to be easy for anyone of them. Like take example of Christy Davis, he may be among the top 2-3 talents in the team, he already have Flan Gomes in his position in the first team who haven't got a sight of first team game.

Sarineo Fernandes, he already have Sanson Perreira in his position who is further benched by Saviour Gama. Leander D'Cunha is already on the wings for the RB slot. He too was the captain of Dev team one season back.

Taking about someone like Nestor Dias, I said that there are already lot of players in his position. Be it CM or DM. Add Edu Bedia as Juan plays him as DM.

Add another example of Dylan D'Silva, Shubham is already there without a chance

Maybe Aaren D'Silva, one of the finest ones, had made a right choice by choosing HFC. As he had Ishan Pandita, Devendra Murgaonkar and a foreign striker over him.

But at the same time, it's not like they don't like to use them. Even if it's so, it will change automatically in nearing times. See the number of players coming through the ranks. Why look outside when you already have the resources?

FC Goa have already produced some of the finest products through their ranks. Liston Colaco, Nawaz, Saviour Gama to name a few. And possibly we will get to see some more in coming years. Aaren D'Silva, Princeton Fernandes to name a few. Some of you may know how highly I rate PF.

And possibly we can have more players like Brison Fernandes doing more for the Junior Gaurs next season.
