Ive been dwelling on the intersections of my transness and my paleontology background again and want to revisit the fact that transphobes don't believe in evolution, even as they crow about "BIoLogy"
When you actually explore the history of life on this planet you come to the inevitable conclusion that diversity in life-forms is a biological essential for the survival of all life. That trans people, queer people, are part of the fabric that has resulted in life on earth.
I can share the tweet where I go further into this in scientific detail from last year and cite examples but to speak generally as someone who studies geology and the biosphere you start to the connections to diverse characteristics in life.
The world is constantly changing. That's a given fact and important for existence. Plate tectonics is one of the most important cornerstones in understanding earth. Since the origin of the planet it's been at work in some form. For nearly 4.5 billion years the world is changing.
The known history of life dates back around 3.7 billion years. For life to continue it must change with these fluctuating conditions. Extinction by definition is when specific life forms can not keep up with changing conditions.
This has happened over an almost inconceivable amount of time for life forms that only live 80 years. So we have constant change on earth over the axis time. It is then in life's best interest to be ready for any outcome.
Even dating back 340 MYA we see complicated life forms able to change their sex as life required. Before that simple life forms could do so as it required. Life is driven by a need to survive and adapt. So even within a species adaptation is critical to survival.
So a species is best equiped when it's diverse and adaptable. That is shown consistently in the fossil record. It is ingrained in our DNA. Those characteristics passed down for hundreds of millions of years.
The only conclusion then is that it's natural for queer and trans people to exist. We are an expression of that diversity and how life survives. That genetic diversity allows for speciation even, for new species to evolve for new conditions and new adaptations.
I struggle when someone tells me that trans or queer people "aren't natural". We are the very essence of survival. An expression of life's beautiful diversity as a necessity for survival. As well as beings that are coded with genetics that require diverse life-forms for survival
Another way to think about it is that the long history of life on this planet, which somehow has survived this long through incredible changing conditions, created life-forms that require and preference diverse characteristics.
Trans and queer people are then and extension of a history of life which is constantly blurring the lines so we and all life survive on earth.
