Louis DeJoy is still the postmaster general because Trump appointees still make up the majority of the USPS Board of Directors.

Last year, we asked USPS for ethics agreements for BOG members.

It said 12 pages were responsive, but USPS is withholding them in full. #FOIAFriday
Ethics agreements — and waivers granting officials permission to go around those limits — can reveal key information about potential conflicts or raise important questions about whether those same officials are abiding by the rules.
These 12 pages suggest that at least one member of USPS’s Board of Governors has an ethics agreement in place. Because USPS won’t release the records — it’s citing privacy concerns — we don’t know more.
We’re still investigating the politicization of USPS. Learn more here:

NEW: In December, Texas filed a lawsuit that asked SCOTUS to overturn the 2020 election results in 4 states.

Documents we obtained, reported on by @TPM, show South Carolina’s attorney general strategized with conservative lawyers on the lawsuit. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/sc-ag-str…
The records indicate South Carolina AG Alan Wilson was in touch with Mark Martin, a former North Carolina chief justice and informal adviser to Donald Trump. Martin was reportedly part of the team that planned the lawsuit to overturn the election.

The documents also include communications between Wilson and Don Brown, an author and attorney who claimed to be working with pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell and Martin.

Litigation Update: In yesterday’s hearing, the Arizona Senate’s attorney argued it shouldn’t have to publicly release certain records held by Cyber Ninjas, the firm conducting the “audit.” The judge said he will issue a written ruling in 7-10 days.
The only thing this sham audit has going for it right now is its secrecy — the more that’s uncovered, the clearer it is that it was never designed with the public interest in mind.
The Arizona Senate works for the public and it cannot outsource its work to partisan contractors to avoid accountability.

We keep learning more about Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. @arizonacentral reports that Trump tried to talk with the chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in the weeks after the election.

Our own investigation has documented Trump’s contact with Arizona Senate President Karen Fann. In December, Fann told a constituent that Trump had personally called her to thank her “for pushing to prove any fraud.”
In the same December email, Fann said that she’d had “numerous conversations with Rudy Giuliani” in the weeks since the election. Giuliani had recently held an unofficial “hearing” in Arizona in which participants made unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.

Litigation Update: Today we have a hearing in our lawsuit seeking records from the Arizona Senate's sham "audit" of the 2020 election results. With copycat efforts spreading across the country, it's essential to get the full story about what's going on in Arizona. Image
Our public records requests in Arizona have already revealed troubling conduct by the top officials leading the so-called "audit.”
But critical records are still being withheld from the public. In May, we sued the Arizona Senate to release documents related to the process being run by the firm Cyber Ninjas, including the Senate’s communications with Cyber Ninjas.

The @washingtonpost reports that in 2017, Trump administration Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue bought land worth millions for just $250,000 from a large agriculture corporation. Perdue had been nominated just a few weeks before the sale.

This isn’t the first time Perdue’s business ties have raised concerns from ethics watchdogs.

In 2009, Perdue and a business partner bought a plot of land along the Soque River in northern Georgia. Perdue and his partner received both wetland and stream credits from the government for turning the land into a wetland preserve, which they could sell to developers.

NEW: We obtained more documents related to the sham “audit” in Arizona.

The records show ‘audit’ spokesperson Randy Pullen asked if the subpoena for ballots extended beyond Maricopa County: “Ballot images for all counties would be even better.”
americanoversight.org/document/arizo… Image
In this same email to Arizona Sen. Eddie Farnsworth on Dec. 16, Pullen notes that he was talking to a “Data scientist.” We know he later was in touch with conspiracy theorist Jovan Hutton Pulitzer, but we don’t know if that’s whom Pullen was referencing.
The documents also include emails in which the general counsel for the Senate Republican caucus sent Senate Pres. Karen Fann information about the statute that could allow the Senate to accept private donations to fund the “audit.”
