@TanjaBueltmann I lived in Germany for over 23 years mainly working alongside British forces. Signs of WW2 all around where I lived: Bergen-Belsen, Iron Curtain, Berlin Wall, bullet marks. In that time I saw Germany reunite & finally shake off the shackles of its WW2 identity. /1
@TanjaBueltmann In 2005 I came back to a UK still not able to move on. We won, but we never got over it. We never got over losing the empire either. We never fully embraced the benefits of our EU membership. In short, we never grew up, constantly reliving only victories mis-rememberes. /2
@TanjaBueltmann We never moved on. We, especially the English, had an identity crisis. To say one was proud to be English actually meant proud to be white English. Many don't want to be associated with that, no matter how much they actually love their country. /3
@TanjaBueltmann Scots, Welsh & Irish don't have this problem. The far right have groomed us into accepting racism as normal. Brexit legitimises it. The far right further exploits it & stirs up tribalism & division. /4
@TanjaBueltmann So here we are. Not having learned the lessons of the past, sleepwalking into a situation which is starting to repeat the ghastly mistakes of the past. But don't mention the war. /5
@TanjaBueltmann The saddest thing of all is the lost opportunity to break away from this & become a confident outward looking European union of 4 nations, individual but sharing a common outlook as a full EU member taking our rightful place in the world being who we are. We have lost our way. /6
@TanjaBueltmann Of course we all want our team to win. But it's just a game of football (bottom line). I hope we do win. But can we do that without all the insanity that's likely to follow? I'm not sure we've grown up enough to do that.

If England wins the final it's going to be like Hitler hosting the 1936 Olympics, isn't it. 😬
So many people missed the point of my tweet. Clue for the idiots: it's got nothing to do with Southgate & the team. It's to do with not learning the lessons if history. 🤦♀️
Someone clearly missed the point, but then he can't fill out a basic form, so he's unlikely to know any history.
.@CNN I hope you're reporting this. @ChrisCuomo@donlemon@AC360@ErinBurnett
Woman killed by police officer. Women's peaceful vigil broken up by violent police officers in London.
No vaccine for NYC? C'mon! Trump is trying to make political capital out of it. Lying about the mortality rate figures. Bigging himself up again. No word re #WarpSpeedTransition.
Lying about the state of health services. Listing lots of numbers. Impossible what he's saying. I suspect it's all lies. Won't go to a lockdown. Says lockdown is worse than the disease! 🙄 Everyone wearing a mask except Trump.
Watching on @CNN
Interesting that the medical advisor is saying the vaccines have been developed by companies independently of any political interference. In other words, he's saying that Trump was lying. Surprise surprise.
So here's the thing. #2016ref was advisory, but treated as mandatory to disenfranchise those likely to support EU, ie Brits in EU27, EU27 citizens in UK, 16-17s etc. Also so it could be corrupted by dark money & digital manipulation without fear of being declared void/1
No investigations into this corruption & criminal behaviour (why not?). Wafer thin #2016ref result accepted as valid with no possibility of successful legal challenge & used to deliver hard no deal Brexit which benefits who?/2
Who benefits? Xenophobic May, who falls into power, seemingly by accident, as rivals drop out, no mandate, loses majority in hastily arranged GE (advised by hubby, apparently)& who has to bribe 10 bigots to keep herself in power & propped up by ERG as long as she appeases them/3
