Jordan’s insight inspired this question of mine, responding to Schmachtenberger’s:

What collective capabilities do those richly connected groups need to develop so that they can become an anti-fragile social movement prefiguring the next civilization?

My candidate for a closer look at those “richly connected groups” is the ecosystem of transformative/regenerative projects & movements. Its highest-order, composite capability is its Self-Organizing Collective Intelligence. To augment SOCI we need to be able to operationalize it.

CI would only be an academic discipline if it wouldn’t aim at collective impact. Hence the importance of wise DECISION. What makes a coll. decision wiser than another and what it takes to achieve it?

The capacity of perspective-taking is an antecedent of “transcontextual mutual learning” ( @norabateson ), at all scales, from individuals to communities, social ecosystems and our species. The more perspectives a social holon is able to hold, the more co-intelligent it becomes.

Strengthening the capacity for collective perspective-taking will most likely be one of the focal areas of a “Societal Shift” sensemaking event planned for September, convening the ecosystem catalysts and enliveners, and those who are interested to support this work.
