It will take me a long time to truly unpack what I saw last night. It was the best of England (Heroic performance from the boys) and undoubtedly the worst of us too. I was waiting with @grahamhiley@joemcindoe92 & @Mart_86 just inside Gate K when the gate was breached by idiots.
You could see it coming. The disabled doors which we'd passed through were open as five or six stewards tried to hold back dozens of out of control, ticketless idiotic #englandfans. When the stewards were finally overpowered, it was carnage.
As someone who is vulnerable in that moment, my first thought was get to safety, which my brother and Dad did with both me and my friend (both wheelchair users). Before we got to safety, we saw a poor guy on crutches with his leg strapped up get absolutely flattened by this mob.
A steward who tried to stop them both getting in and also from getting to me & Joe got flattened and we saw him later with his leg in a bad way. It truly marred what was otherwise a superb occasion, but Wembley have some questions to answer. We'll never get a World Cup like that!
The stewards were valiant but were completely overpowered and out-manned. We didn't see any police around Gate K and they were completely abandoned. If the steward or guy in crutches are reading this, I hope you're okay. And then the racist abuse after the game was disgusting.
We as a country and a society have taken a huge step back into the dark ages these past five or six years. Racism, abuse and violence is becoming normalised. It is truly sickening to see.
Outside of that (and the result) it was a great experience, we need to be better.
