This one's going to be in multiple tweets. If anyone would like further clarification on anything related to this video, let me know. (1/17) "Game Theory: We Need To Talk About FNAF"
Matt makes it clear that he and the rest of Team Theorist support LGBTQ rights and that the team consists of creative and talented people from all across the spectrum. (2/17)
He then goes on to say that he will still be covering & supporting FNaF because it's made up of more creators than just Scott, both the fans & those who work on the franchise directly; and by not supporting the whole franchise, he wouldn't be supporting those creators. (3/17)
He also says several times that just because he chooses to support FNaF doesn't mean anyone is wrong to not support it. That's a valid choice and everyone is free to draw the line where they see fit. (4/17)
This is ultimately the recurring dilemma that many face when choosing whether or not to support any company, whereby financially supporting it could contribute to the income of someone they strongly disagree with in some way, e.g., Walt Disney or J.K. Rowling. (5/17)
He says this is a personal choice people will have to make on their own. "To me, the good of supporting the community around the franchise and the jobs that it creates is worth whatever minor impact that Scott may be able to enact in the political sphere." (6/17)
If LGBTQ rights are important to you and you think Scott is dangerous to those, something that could be considered in said personal choice is how him leaving FNaF & social media dismantles a lot of the things that could make him dangerous moving forward. (7/17)
He then discusses how he hates American politics & how its binary nature makes it so no one candidate reflects all of your views & so you have to vote for the lesser of two evils in a way. "And I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe Scott felt like he was in a similar position," (8/17)
He starts reading Scott's response, says personal attacks and death threats are never okay, & says he'll give Scott the benefit of the doubt, as Scott has donated $50K to The Trevor Project. (9/17)
When looking at who Scott specifically donated to, Matt notes that he donated to one Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard, whom Scott said was his first choice for president; followed by his donation to Trump two months later, after Tulsi started to lag in the polls. (10/17)
Matt also notes that the only commonality across all of the candidates Scott donated to is tough foreign policy; "keeping the military strong, keeping trade strong, and standing against foreign powers like North Korea." (11/17)
He then says it's mostly true that everyone Scott donated to also had a history of opposing same-sex & trans rights, except for Tulsi Gabbard, who's been inconsistent at best. But at the time Scott chose to support her, publicly facing, she was pro-trans rights. (12/17)
Matt states he's not here to judge anyone's priorities & then theorizes that, given all of this, "Scott, like so many other Americans, may have found himself caught in a situation where no one candidate truly reflected the complete slate of policies that he supported." (13/17)
"And when his first choice of candidate bowed out of the race, one who was publicly pro-LGBTQ rights at the time, he moved on to the next best option in his mind," (14/17)
"considering the issue that he thought was most important; in this case, foreign policy; therefore, him supporting Trump." (15/17)
Matt then clarifies that this isn't an endorsement, he's not trying to explain away Scott's actions or anything, and he's surprised Scott did this, but also that this isn't enough for him to abandon the FNaF franchise/community. (16/17)
He closes by saying how the Internet struggles with nuance a lot of times, how he's sad this is how everything wound up, how much good has come out of FNaF, it's a new era for the franchise and he'll be here for the ride, that's not a theory, and then the video ends. (17/17)
