The realization that North Korea is just as bad or worse than most people think it is, while simultaneously being less of an inhuman, dystopian nightmare than South Korea, is probably the single most depressing blackpill I've had the displeasure of swallowing.

North Korea: poor mountainous authoritarian shithole, you're basically living in Asian Albania.

South Korea: birthrates are permanently below levels otherwise only seen during acute famines, students work more than interns in soviet labor camps, this is somehow seen as normal.

South Korea is basically all the worst parts of the west, except that instead of having a 200 year run-up, the destruction of the old culture and social mores took place within the span of a single generation. It's basically western capitalism's own Soviet Union experiment.

The Soviet Union during the tail end of stalinist collectivization (so when peopke started to have some food to eat again) was probably less insane and anti-human than what passes for normality in SK today for students. And that is NOT some sort of defense of stalinism!

Japan, which westerners love to gripe about as this basket case of low fertility, has a birth rate of 1.42. South Korea just dropped to 0.98.

Norks are at 1.90.

Would you rather live in the irl version of children of men and buy funko pops, or have a family in Albania?

Parents are expected to pay astronomical sums for private education for their kids to have a chance to compete in SK. Cram schools close near midnight.

Kids are routinely sleep deprived throughout their childhood in order to have them study more.

Holy shit, South Korea is actually a worse place to live than North Korea. I say this without any hint of irony whatsoever. Parents forcing you to study from 5 am to 2 am every single day. World's lowest fertility rate at less than 1 child per woman.

"It is a commonly known saying in Korea that 'If you sleep three hours a night, you may get into a top 'SKY university;' If you sleep four hours each night, you may get into another university; if you sleep five or more hours each night, forget about getting into any university.'

Accordingly, many high school students in their final year do not have any free time for holidays, birthdays or vacations before the NCATs (National College Scholastic Aptitude Test, Korean: 수능), which are university entrance exams held by the Ministry of Education.

You have to be incredibly naive to buy into this fantasy of the left suddenly abandoning "culture/race/etc". Leftoids tried to join the /wsb discord (presumably to inspire the workers) but left because it was too edgy and racist.

OWS was driven by immiseration and precarity among the aspiring functionaries, students, and provincial gentry of the (failing) "knowledge economy". That's why they all went into progressive stack and identity patronage politics. It served their class ends.

Once the mob of T-T-T-ToXiC WhITE MaLES enter the arena, though, their methods and political ethos will be quite different. There won't be much common ground between them and professional leftists because the leftists are their class enemies anyways.

Seriouspost: remember when I told you guys that from now on, the only real "praxis" of the left would be to sit on the bleachers, yelling down at the players that they weren't playing correctly?

This gamestop thing is just the latest proof of this trend.

This trend isn't going to stop either. You'll have the theorycels who've read Adorno or Gouldner or whoever who'll seethe over the fact that the left is being ignored by history and events. They'll moan about how nothing anyone does will ever change anything.

But that's just 100% projection. In a situation of political decay, even fairly small pebbles can overturn the apple cart. It just won't be leftist pebbles from here on out. Their energy is completely spent. They truly do belong on the "dustbin of history" today.
