#Stitt has a Communications Manager who is really bad at it: A Thread

This is @CarlyAtch. She wants everyone to know the truth about what happened at the #McGirt
Forum tonight.

The forum was for those impacted by McGirt. Not everyone impacted is a victim.

As a person ostensibly dealing with communication @CarlyAtch should know that a forum means you're not always going to hear what you want.
This was a forum, not a photo op. If you wanted the latter you shouldn't have advertised the former @CarlyAtch.
Did it ever occur to you that had respect been shown by your office initially by, I don't know, inviting everyone who is impacted by the decision as opposed to those whose voices you want to amplify so as to undermine tribal sovereignty that it might have been less bumpy tonight?
You can't actively work to silence people & expect them to roll out the red carpet for you.

Had you entered into this in good faith things might have been different. But this isn't about good faith. This is about getting your way. Well, your way is illegal so suck it up.
NOPE.

Your office did not create a space for victims impacted by McGirt.

Your office created a space for a *community impact forum* then did everything you could to cut out the communities it most impacts: Tribal Citizens and Nations.

Know how I know that?
IT'S ON YOUR FLYER.

Or, in the case of the Tribes, NOT on your flier.
You don't get to weaponize your lyin' white tears about victims then disrespect the very real concerns of tribal citizens with a flippant (and really old) meme.
If your office truly cared about the impacts of McGirt there's no way it would be grossly dismissive of the concerns of all your constituents as you are here.

This, more than anything else, exemplifies the contempt Stitt has for the Nations.
If this indeed happened, and that's a big IF considering how horribly you've done on the "truth" tip so far this thread, then I extend my sincerest condolences and send up smoke for healing.
I hope both you and Stitt also apologized for your illegal actions in not honoring the treaties for the past 114 years and bullheaded refusal to work within the system as it is now (and always should have been) have caused her this pain.
You emailed the @CherokeeNation & @Chickasaw, the 2 Nations that want to compact with the state already. You didn't bother with @MvskokeRez @SeminoleNation_ @choctawnationOK.

NEWSFLASH @CarlyAtch: We aren't all the same just cause we look alike.
It's pretty gross that you clearly hoped to get the Nations there that agreed with you instead of having a good faith give and take conversation with all the 5 Nations.

Just because you have 2 Native Nations friends and they're cool with it doesn't mean it's ok.
You expected people to email you *back* but didn't bother emailing them first. You do realize they can't respond if you haven't given them anything to respond to?

Oh bless your heart you don't.
PROTIP: Next time use that extra chair settin' up time actually trying to contact the people you're lying about having tried to contact.

And you're the Communications Manager?

This actually explains A LOT.
There's this thing called the internet. Maybe you've heard of it. It's what Twitter is on.

You can find all kinds of information here. Like the contact info for the Nations.
And while there may not be a direct email for them there isn't one for your boss either so I'm sure you could've found someone to explain to you how a telephone call works.

Also you're not a tween. StOp TyPiNG LiKe OnE.
In conclusion, @CarlyAtch: Try again only next time with more things like "facts" and "the truth".

You did get one thing right though. Some were there in good faith. It just wasn't who you're trying to make everyone believe it was.

When the federal Indian boarding "schools" (reeducation camps) closed the land was supposed to revert back to the Native Nations it came from.*

The catholic church currently illegally occupies 10,000 acres of stolen land on which they held prisoner

#landback White background with black and red text that reads: If you're reading this.... Give the land back
and abused our young Native relatives. Between the church and the catholic bureau of Indian missions they were responsible for 67 reeducation camps in the so called united states.

In June the u.s. catholic bishops apologized for their role in the reeducation camps.
As catholics who confess their sins they should understand that apologies are not enough. As part of the sacrament of reconciliation confession is not complete without penance. Penance on their part should start with #LandBack.

It's oklahoma land run day so I'm going to tell you a story about how I was forced to celebrate it in grade school. 🧵1/4

We had a land run reenactment. They taped off parts of the black top parking lot into squares and Image
when they blew a whistle all the kids in my grade ran to stake a claim on a square.

Except me.

As the only Native in my grade I was made to stand to the side and play "Indian".

oklahoma is home to 39 Native Nations, many forced here under the indian removal act.
You are on stolen land and to celebrate the land tun is to celebrate that theft and the ongoing genocide of Native Nations.

CW: Native genocide

Today is the anniversary of the largest mass shooting in American history, Wounded Knee, a massacre on December 29, 1890 that has been relegated to history as a "battle". 🧵

#woundedknee
The Wounded Knee massacre saw 250-300 disarmed Lakota slaughtered. Half that number were women and children.
A father found his wife dead, shot through the breast that still had their 22 day old baby suckling it, filling the child's mouth with blood rather than mother's milk. The baby died a few days later.

Today is the 160th anniversary of the largest mass execution in u.s. history, carried out on the orders of The Great Emancipator, abraham lincoln.
In 1862 Minnesota was considered the new frontier. White settlers had been pushing Dakota Indians further west, making false promises of peace and breaking treaties amongst both groups. The u.s. promised to deliver food and supplies to the Dakota
as partial payment for their giving up their lands to whites. Corralled into reservations and limited to their traditional ways of hunting, the Dakota were being starved purposely.

Citizenship of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and the Pretendian Hit List Attack on Sovereignty: 🧵

In May '21 The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma submitted to and got approval from the department of interior to update their constitution,
removing the "by blood" requirement for enrollment.

doi.gov/pressreleases/…

Why then is Jackie still talking about the blood quantum of an enrollee in order to invalidate their Indigeneity?
To enroll in Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma in most cases one has to be a lineal descendant of an ancestor listed on the Dawes Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedman of the Five Civilized Tribes.

No blood quantum required.

andrew jackson signed the Indian removal act today in 1830. You may remember it from not being covered in your history class, or as the thing that happened so "oklahoma" can celebrate Land Run Day, or
as that time that gave you a great, great grandma who was maybe an Indian princess probably and also gives you have permission to wear headdresses at music festivals.
It was really just the crowning effort of extermination from the architect of Native genocide who is celebrated on your $20 bill even though it cost so very many their families and their lives as the the largest genocide in US history, a genocide that continues today.
