Great to see #NationalFoodStrategy report out today. A bold step towards using land to deliver healthier eating and tackling environmental damage that @theCCCuk has been calling for. Now we need gov to act. ↓thread.
#NationalFoodStrategy advises ambitious goal of 30% reduction in meat reduction in 10 years – faster than @theCCCuk pathway; key factor in reducing emissions and releasing land for carbon sequestration. 
This swanky Sankey shows land inefficiency of producing meat: using 85% of land and delivering just 14% of calories and 22% of protein.
Nice idea too on mandatory reporting for large food companies; should be extended to cover GHGs on food sold in line with @theCCCuk advice.
Also good to see #NationalFoodStrategy recommending legislation to deliver healthy and sustainable food, with key role for @theCCCuk in supporting @foodgov (FSA). Would be major step forward in delivering important food and land goals.
Next step is for Govt to consider these important recommendations, and it has promised a White Paper responding to the proposals in six months. We’ll be keeping a close eye on developments.
