Pseudo-cops in Uptown: a thread

Starting with events on 7/14 and updated frequently. Image
Last thread got a little messy, so here’s hoping round 2 is a little more streamlined
A group of people (mostly masc-looking folks) showed up to the site of Winston-Marie Memorial in Uptown in the early hours of 7/14 to assist law enforcement in clearing the space.

Some have the letters “CRG” written on their vests. Image
Here’s just some photos and videos of them that have been posted, for your reference
They didn’t want to be identified when they were clearing Wince Way
After the garden was cleared, 7 Points put out this statement (which does not mention a contract or partnership with a security etc kind of company)

Reminder: 7 Points is fka Calhoun Square and is owned by Northpond Partners
In the evening of 7/14, community members returned to the site of the memorial and were told if they trespassed they would be arrested.

Members of this paramilitary group were posted around the space, and 2 of them were by a car (that was with them) that had plates covered
Around 11pm on 7/14, people who appeared to be members of this paramilitary group attacked and tried to arrest/detain a person near the entrance of the parking ramp on Girard
As of 5:20pm on 7/15, we still do not have confirmation on
a. Who these people are
b. What the name of the group/company is
c. What powers they do and do not legally have
d. Who is paying them
e. How long they will be here
What we do know
a. They are guarding the parking ramp/plot of land where the memorial garden was
b. At least some are carrying guns and/or zip tie handcuffs
c. They have attempted to perform citizens arrests
When asked if he could identify this group, MPD spokesperson John Elder told a resident he does “not know who they are”

Source: a comrade we trust. Have confirmed that this email came from Elder’s email address. Image
So you’re telling us there are guys with guns performing citizens arrests for MPD and MPD “doesn’t have any association with the group”? And you don’t know who they are?

You’d think they’d be at least a little concerned with this. Or at least pretend.

Have heard a few report backs on this. Sounds like MPD is either ghosting them or not able to respond in what these contractors deem appropriate time
Someone that talked to the “team lead” otg today said he told them if we want to know the name of the company or get any information on CRG at all, we have to get it from the developers

@7pointsuptown we’re still waiting.
The team lead also said they do not have a relationship with MPD.
Another citizens arrest at the hands of CRG
CRG = Conflict Resolution Group
uscrg.com

“a full-service security and protection firm that specializes in high threat services. [they] instruct, train, and offer special courses to private security, military and law enforcement personnel” and use UAVs
CRG is owned by Nathan Seabrook, who started the company “during the Minnesota riots of 2020 when a specialty security team was formed in order to provide close protection and counter-surveillance services for members of the Minneapolis City Council."
Up until this afternoon, CRG and a couple of their henchmen followed us on social media. (Blocked ‘em)

More soon.
These are interesting sound bites from Seabrook about what he thinks of Minneapolis.
CRG is a “corporate protective agent” - they have to meet similar qualifications as private investigators in the state of MN but yeah, are not cops.

It sounds like they’re citizens arrest-ing people for trespassing on their client’s property (the garage) and holding them for MPD
Via CRG: contractors are special ops personnel, gov security contractors, diplomatic sec, SWAT officers & private sec specialists. Many are combat veterans who served in high threat environments.

An old job posting says candidates are required to have military/police experience
Here’s that old job posting if you want to see more: indeed.com/viewjob?t=arme…
Not Nathan Seabrook, CEO and owner of CRG, rating his own book 5 stars! Image

Oh that guy? Don’t mind him, he’s just the ex-military contractor paid to surveil us if we look at the parking garage on Girard for more than 5 seconds

“(CRG) has learned to dress down to look like a “news team” and during “missions” carry open umbrellas to protect themselves from thrown items like frozen pop cans, eggs and rocks, which were employed in…protests of the police killing of Daunte Wright.”

A thread of cops present in Uptown in the evening of 6/15 as MPD tore down the barricades protecting the vigil site for Winston Smith and Deona Marie 🧵
This one was asked 3 dozen times for his badge number. Folks even asked his supervisor for it since it was covered. No response. Image

Welcome to the Alexandra Dubay thread, where we catalog all the times this MPD officer has brutalized our neighbors.

Badge number: 1617
The morning of the attempted eviction at the Near North encampment, Dubay taped over her badge and tried to hit neighbors with her car.
