A fire broke out today in a chemistry laboratory of the Main Building of IISER Pune on the second floor around 12 noon. By around 2:30 pm, the fire was brought under control.
The building was evacuated immediately after the fire broke out. There are no casualties. A student sustained minor injury on his hands and has been attended to with first-aid. The student is doing fine.

The extent of damage to labs will be assessed in the coming days. We are grateful everyone’s safe. Disruption to research and to student’s work is very unfortunate. To all our students and researchers, would like to say, please stay strong. We will get through this together.
