✨Slavery in Vedas✨

There are random articles on the internet which interprets the term दास, दासी as Slaves or "female Slaves". They try to prove this similar to the western slavery. Lets have a look at their claims:-,
Yesterday,Someone DMed this to me. I wasn't able to find the original source.

I looked at all the similar claims and I found out that all the articles have imagined "slavery" and injustice just by the word Dasā and provided nothing to substantiate their claims.
Be it the references from the rigveda samhita or the brahman of the samhita( ऐतरेय) They just mention the term दास or दासी. They do not mention what is done to them, what are their Works.
It can't be called slavery. It is "servitude"
दास्यते भृतिरस्मै दासति ददात्यङ्गं स्वामिने उपचाराय वा दास:।(वाचस्पत्यम्)
Vachaspatyam says that one who is given Salary, and who dedicates his part (Body) for the treatment (Seva) of the Master (in exchange for Salary), is called Dasa.

The household works are the work of Dasas.
यश्चैषां स्वामिनं कश्चिन्मोचयेत् प्राणसंशयात्।
दासत्वात् स विमुच्येत पुत्रभागं लभेत चेति॥(N.S 5.30)

If a Dasa saves the life of his Swami,he becomes equivalent to the son. Not only this ,He gets property rights too.
Compare this with Slavery of west(right)
This is from Anushasana parva 23.
One who eats food without giving it to "Dasa" "kids" &"elders". He goes to narka.
Manusmriti 3.116 along with the smriti of Yajnavālkya(1.105) and Vishnu(67.41) describes the same thing.
Apastamba Dhārma Sutra 2.4.9 Describes it more clearly "If he wish he may keep his wife and children hungry but not the Dāsā
This is from the Brahmvaivarta purana. Dasa are called as Son. You can't expect this in Slavery. See right
In Mahabharata "not being angry at Servants is also told as a medium to get away from Dukhas.

In Brahma purana 216.59 "One who fosters his Servants he gets the Heaven along with the Vimanas"(similar thing is said in Valmiki Ramayana)
No one works as Servant forcefully. It is condemned. The duties of King is decided that he must make Dasa and Dasis free.
Narad smriti/chapter5
This occurs in Agni Purana 258.72 and Yajnavalkya smriti. Anyone who cause trouble to Dasis is Punished.

The women Servants were filled with riches along with males. See the examples from Itihasa++
All the Dasis were gifted Jewelries, Good clothes. See their description in ramayana and Mahabharata. Can you expect such behaviour in #Slavery where workers weren't even paid?
There may exist some harsh words also( they do exist for each one women,Men,Brahmins,Shudras)+ There may exist some methods which out of devotion some Dasa used to follow.
Keep all of the above verses in mind while interpretating those.

In Rgveda Shakala samhita the total number of letters is 4,32,000. Rishis have calculated every word of Veda so the knowledge can be passed without a single letter getting lost. Image
Similar is the case with the tradition of interpretation. You can notice it in DarshanaShastras too. In Vedanta the debate about what is the meaning of अथ in the sutra अथातो ब्रह्मजिज्ञासा has taken many books to explain.
Interpretation of vedas require much effort.
Durgacharya has written {meaning in image

ईदृशेषु शब्दार्थन्यायसङ्कटेषु मन्त्रार्थघटनेषु दुरवबोधेषु मतिमतां मतयो न प्रतिहन्यन्ते, वयं त्वेतावदत्रावबुद्ध्यामह {Nirukta 7.31}

Here the meaning of the term "वैश्वानर" is being discussed Image

"Women didn't used to cover their breasts before British Rule" All this is Victorian Morality
Traditions, customs and dresses may vary within communities and region. But you can't say that "women didn't used to cover the upper part of body". There are different types of clothes mentioned to serve the purpose.
All of us agree that Kalidasa is Pre Mughal, Pre-British and maybe pre to any type pf cultural invasion.

In his book ritusamhar we find two instances

For a second imagine all these stories to be true(in the way he has represented).

anecdotes cannot be against Vedas. By saying that the "meaning of Vedas should be taken from Itihasa and Puranas" we mean that history and Puranas are only for Vedas. Not against it. ImageImage
If the method is derived from the Anecdote going against Veda or Smriti. So Due to the stability of the fame of Ravana, till date who abducted someone's wife such method can be derived :-
"कीर्तिकामः परदारानपहरेत् (the person who desires fame has to abduct the wife)"
But it's not derived because it's against Veda and Smritis. Therefore, one should imagine that the anecdotes holds no authority to determine what is dharma and adharma by themselves...

Although there are many commentaries on BhagvadGita especially in the tradition of advaita vedanta. I'm going to name a few of them.

The first one as we know is the bhashya of Sri Shankracharya.
(2) The commentary of AnuBhuti Swarupa Acharya. He is the writer of "Saraswat Vyakaranam".

(3) The Tika of AnandaGiri. This tika gives the clear meaning very beautifully.

(4) "BhashyarkaPrakash" Tika of Bellamkonda Ramraya Kavi.
(5) Shankaranandi Tika of Swami Shankaranand

(6) Gudartha Dipika of Madhusudana Saraswati

(7)Bhashyotkaraha Dipika of DhanpatiSuri.

In the very first page see how ill logic "Rama was a human not an avatara" this is the propaganda they are promoting and Hindus will be fine with this.

Also in this "pure ramayana "Hanumanji used monoplane ✈️ to reach lanka
If you want I can send you pdf of this $hit , don't waste your money buying it.

Here are some very easy answerable questions from their ramayana which goes against their siddhanta
