91% of the top 47 Covid19 UK gov contract winning firms are run by men – an investigation by @allthecitizens and @BylineBITE can reveal…

In addition, not a single CEO or senior director of the top 47 companies in our review of those companies that won the largest pandemic contracts – some 145 people – was a black woman.

The investigation found that 91% of the CEOs and managing directors who have won the main Covid-19 contracts since the pandemic began are men. 91% are white.

Only 4% of senior directors in the top 47 companies was black, - and all these are men and work for the same company.

The 2011 census found that 14% of people in the UK considered themselves to be part of a non-white ethnic group and 19.5% non-white-British.

There is no suggestion that the Gov. sought out these companies on the basis of certain diversity characteristics – or lack of them. Rather, it highlights the disparities that presently exist within the corporate world, including among outsourcing firms.
