Last week, @PressSec said that the Biden Administration was flagging posts for Facebook and encouraging the social media network to remove what the Administration deems to be “disinformation.” 3 problems I see:
(1/5)
First, this would be a huge step towards state-approved messaging. It’s quite literally authoritarian. This would undermine Americans’ guaranteed First Amendment rights.
(2/5)
Second, the federal government is in no position to decide what is truth and what is opinion. Three months ago, the Wuhan lab leak theory was dismissed as disinformation, but today is seen as a likely origin of COVID-19.
(3/5)
Third, too many people who say “disinformation” really just mean “opinions I disagree with.” Yesterday, taxpayer-funded NPR ran a story about @benshapiro's @realDailyWire that tried to cast their stories as “disinformation.”
(4/5)
But after reading the article, the expert they relied upon to make this claim admits that when he says “disinformation” he really means “truths that allow readers to reach conclusions I disagree with.”

🚨🚨How disastrous and unconstitutional the @HouseDemocrats "For the People" Act is 🚨🚨
Who doesn’t want more campaign ads? Paid for with tax dollars?

HR 1 would match donations 600% with federal funds, allowing almost $5 million per candidate.
But wait! Matching donations isn’t enough, so we have to give every American $25 vouchers to donate to campaigns.
