I’m watching an ep of My Unorthodox Life and my verdict is I don’t like reality TV
I *do* like hearing people being called אמא and אבא on TV tho
Why do they subtitle her religious son when he speaks???? He’s speaking English!!
That is the only thing that has made me feel like this show is bad for Jews 😂
One thing I do like about this show is the way that it depicts Jews having family members of various levels of observance which I think is very rare to see in media depictions of Jews
I was raised in a Reconstructionist synagogue and I have Modern Orthodox and Conservative and Reform family members and I think that's completely normal
I also appreciate that the show differentiates between being *religious* and being *fundamentalist*
I support all levels of religious observance, that's a personal choice. And it's also different from fundamentalism, which I generally do not support.

One thing that’s interesting about the public reckoning and reevaluation of all the celebrities — and often female celebrities — who got a raw deal from the media is seeing who suddenly gets our sympathy and who… does not.
I’m glad to see Britney Spears finally get the public support she deserves, but like… when are we going to talk about what we did to LiLo? When are we going to admit that turning Kanye West into a circus sideshow *just last year* was really fucked?
And like: I get that those two are harder to redeem than Britney because they’re not as likable, because they have done actively awful shit — but also people said that exact same thing about Britney like 15 years ago?
I started watching The White Lotus and Jake Lacy always confuses me because I can’t tell if he’s attractive or not
I feel positively towards him because he was so good in Obvious Child but at the same time every time I see him I feel like he’s a Kennedy who went slightly wrong
Also I don’t know why anyone vacations at resorts, really grateful I grew up in an anti-resort family
