Michael Flynn is collaborating with former GOP lawmaker Matt Shea who was found in a House report to have "organized & supported "three armed conflicts of political violence", & advocated replacing the government with a theocracy & “the killing of all males who do not agree." 1/
MAGA Pastor Mark Burns (a SC congressional candidate & close ally of Roger Stone) says that “if he is elected, he’ll resurrect the infamous House Un-American Activities Committee for the purpose of charging citizens, members of the media, & elected officials w/ treason.” via @rightwingwatch 1/ rightwingwatch.org/post/third-tim…
2/ “I am going to push to reenact HUAC, the House Un-American Activities Committee,” Burns vowed. “It is a committee that we should reenact that starts holding these people accountable for treason.”
3/ “HUAC’s work served as a blueprint for the tactics employed by U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy in the early 1950s. McCarthy led an aggressive anticommunist campaign of his own that made him a powerful & feared figure in American politics.” history.com/topics/cold-wa…
For those who don’t know, Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) leaders have been enormously influential in the Council for National Policy (CNP), the Christian Right’s umbrella organization, which effectively controls the GOP. 1/
3/ Paige Patterson is another example of overlap btwn SBC leadership and CNP leadership. Below, I wrote about Pressler & Patterson & the current effort to replicate the SBC’s so-called “Conservative Resurgence,” which was led by Pressler & Patterson in the 1980s.
If Trump gives the Christian Right control over HHS and the FDA, which he will definitely do, they will be able to remove the drugs used in abortions and IVF from the market even without a SCOTUS ruling. Ditto re birth control pills, IUDs, vaccines, etc. 1/
2/ Russ Vought is a Project 2025 co-leader. Trump also picked him to co-write the GOP’s platform. He’s an evangelical extremist who served in the last Trump administration.
This warrants our attention. The Christian Right claims that a fertilized egg = a person even BEFORE implantation & thus that oral contraceptives (aka “the pill”) = “abortifacients” bc, in the rare instance they fail to prevent fertilization, they might prevent implantation. 1/ digitalcommons.cedarville.edu/cgi/viewconten…
Here’s an under-appreciated issue. The Christian Right claims that a fertilized egg = a person even BEFORE implantation & thus that oral contraceptives (aka “the pill”) constitute “abortifacients” bc, in the very rare instance they fail to prevent fertilization, they can then prevent implantation, which they claim = an “abortion.” 1/ digitalcommons.cedarville.edu/cgi/viewconten…
