Wild animals were mass murdered, smuggled across the planet, remaining were pushed into small pockets regarded as reserves. I have compiled a data, as much I could, of elephants of Asia and Africa who were smuggled around the globe after the colonization by europeans
"Chunee" The Indian male elephant Chunee smuggled by East India Company to London in 1811. His keeper tried to feed him poison, but Chunee refused to eat it. Soldiers were summoned from Somerset House to shoot Chunee with their muskets.
An Indian female elephant Rajje was publicly shot down by police in Michigan, USA in 1963 after Rajje tried to escape the circus where she was confined to be trained and perform. She was only 12 year old.
Mary (1894-1916) was publicly hanged. She was a five-ton female Asian elephant, who was smuggled from south east asia. She was publicly hanged in nearby Erwin, Tennessee, in 1916.
Topsy, was a female Asian elephant brought to New York and put to death at a Coney Island, New York amusement park by electrocution in January 1903, she was publicly electrocuted to death by tying her to power supply lines.
Ziggy (1917–1975) Confined for all his life. Ziggy was a male Indian elephant who was brought to United States and he lived at Brookfield Zoo outside Chicago from 1936 to 1975. His confinement for over 30 years ended when he died in 1975.
Jumbo (1860 –1885) Traveled far and got killed in dark Jumbo was a 19th-century male African bush elephant born in Sudan. Jumbo was exported to Jardin des Plantes, a zoo in Paris, and then transferred in 1865 to London Zoo in England. . Jumbo was hit by train and he died.
Black Diamond (1898-1929) was owned by a Circus in USA. The male elephant was born in India. They kept him chained up in heavy chains. The circus decided he was too dangerous to continue on with the show. They attempted to poison him. Black Diamond was shot to death.
Queenie was an African female bush elephant brought to Australia. She was used to give rides for children at Melbourne Zoo for 40 years. She grew old and eventually, she crushed her keeper Wilfred Lawson to death. After which she was shot repeatedly and killed in 1945
Tiger of Segur was a male Bengal tiger. Though originating in the District of Malabar-Wynaad below the south-western face of the Blue Mountains. He was killed by British criminal/murderer Kenneth Anderson in 1954. The tiger killed over 50 people until his death.
Old Bet was the first circus elephant and the second elephant brought to the United States. She was born in Calcutta, India. On July 24, 1816, Old Bet was killed while on tour near Alfred, Maine by local farmer Daniel Davis who shot her because of his mental illness and delusions
Champawat Tiger was a Bengal tigress responsible for an estimated 436 killings in Nepal and the Kumaon area of India, during the last years of the 19th century. She was shot dead in 1907 by a criminal from england, Jim Corbett.
The Sloth bear of Mysore was an Indian sloth bear responsible for the deaths of at least 12 and the mauling of two dozen others in 1957. He was killed by a British criminal Kenneth Anderson.
The Tigers of Chowgarh were a pair of Bengal tigers, consisting of a tigress mother and her sub-adult cub, which for over a five-year period killed a reported 64 people in eastern Kumaon over an area spanning 3,900 km2. Both tigers were killed by British criminal, Jim Corbett.
The Leopard of the Central Provinces, was a male Indian leopard which over the course of a couple of years, killed over 150 people, in the Central Provinces of India in the early 20th century. The leopard was killed by a British criminal.
Leopard of Panar was a male leopard responsible for killings in the Panar region of the Almora district, situated in Kumaon Northern India in the early 20th century. He was killed by Jim Corbett.
Leopard of Rudraprayag was a male leopard, reputed to have killed over 125 people. He was shot dead in 1926 by a british criminal
Lions of Tsavo A pair of two brave lions were responsible for the deaths of over 35 construction workers on the Kenya-Uganda Railway in 1898. The British John Patterson, who was awarded the highest award from Britain, had shot down the two brave lions fighting for their land.
The Leopard of Gummalapur was another braveheart of soil. British used to call him "Spotted Devil of Gummalapur" was a Indian leopard responsible for the deaths of 42 in 1940s. A british criminal Kenneth Anderson killed the leopard.
