Twitter hive. I’ve been meeting a lot of aspiring TV writers looking to break in . I started making up a list of resources on where ppl can find room or general entry level jobs bc it saves me time to give this list. 1/6
So far I have AA fb grps, the women fb grps, A Game for Asian writers, Asians in Animation on Insta, Hollylist, Entertainment Careers dot com, Staff Me Up, UTA joblist, discord, Prod Weekly ($$$ tho), checking company sites directly, tracking #Prewga on Twitter . What else? 2/6
Also somewhat related I highly rec working in TV post or in representation on a lit desk and transitioning that way, a lot of zoom rooms have eliminated the wtr pa job. Working these other jobs can help you make connections to get into TV. 3/6
I’ve gotten the impression from a lot of prewga ppl I’ve met they seem to thumb their noses at these jobs. Most ppl I’ve met seem like they have $/can hold out for the right job. I get that, I do. I didn’t have that luxury. 😂 4/6
The point is there are jobs where you can network your way to a show esp now with Delta rampant and zoom rooms still a thing at some places, which eliminates wtr pa jobs. I got my first room job via connections on a lit desk combined w/throwing a mixer & bonding over dim sum. 5/6
I also get it might be impossible to get any job 😥 Keep networking, go to mixers or throw one, form wtr grps, or common interest grps, like hiking or game night w/assts. Form genuine connections. The assts who hired me as a wtr pa was bc I intro’d them to my fav dim sum. 😂 6/6
